A/N: This little piece of writing came to me as I read 'A Stillness Comes' by callsignbuzz (it's very good, go read it!) and I was inspired by some of the sentences I read. I hope you like it =]
Callsignbuzz, this is for you!
"Ladies and gentlemen, this is a quick speech just to thank you all for coming today and sharing this very special day. It isn't just you I have to thank however. He turned and looked down slightly. "I also have to thank you, Kate." Surveying the audience before him, Rick took hold of Kate's hand, took a deep breath and began to speak.
"I have to thank you, because you walked into my life just when I needed you. You turned my world on its head. Your self-confidence, strength, and intelligent wit intrigued me. The way you refused to be won over by my charms frustrated and the way you excited me. You inspired me in a way I hadn't been in years. You stimulated me intellectually, creatively, and physically. You intrigued me immensely with your personal demons, so obviously haunting and driving you to always be the best. The way we worked together on our first case, made me believe again, in the kinds of partnerships that usually only existed in movies. Working with you – being with you - made the years of vanity and superficial dalliances seem all the more hollow by comparison. The realization that I was in love with you caught me a bit off guard, I'll admit. I'm not proud of the fact that it took the awful reveal of your mother's murder to make me acknowledge the depth of my feelings. I'm also not proud of the fact that my chance to open up to you was forced upon me so violently that I ended up revealing how I felt as you nearly bled to death my arms, as opposed to the more romantic way I would have liked it to occur. But, you are here now and that is all I ask for. So, Katherine, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for being my saviour and for agreeing to always and forever with me."
The hall erupted into applause as he pulled her to her feet and kissed her soundly. In the meantime, Ryan grabbed the microphone he'd used earlier.
"Okay ladies and gents it's time for the bride and groom's first dance." Once more, the hall burst into applause and as Rick and Kate made their way into the middle of the hall the opening bars of Amazed by Lonestar began to play.

As the song started to come to an end, Rick placed his hands either side of her face and whispered, "I love you Katherine Castle," before placing a kiss to her mouth.
