O. Yay! My first Mario fanfic! But anyway, onto the story itself: the characters that I put in here are in their (what I imagine) to be their human forms. I just couldn't use what the game had given me with the story-line (?) I had come up with. But I liked human-fying (okay... what?) them, it was fun!

O. This is a birthday present for Pinkdesi101, so I hope she likes it. It wasn't that long, but still, it's the thought that counts!

The sun set on the horizon, its glow reflecting off of the nearby lake, making it shimmer. Tall grass covered the area, a slightly orange tint reaching its tips from the sun. A hill could be seen in the distance, a lone rock on the top. Two figures sat upon that rock, watching as the clouds turned pink, and then orange.

"It's beautiful, isn't it?" one of the figures asked, her long blonde hair cascading down her back. The man next to her turned his head, looking at her affectionately.

"Not as beautiful as you, milady," he muttered, raising his finger and tapping her nose lightly. A light burst of crimson came onto the lady's cheeks as she smiled at him, closing her eyes in satisfaction. She leaned her head onto his shoulder, fiddling with the red pendant he wore around his neck. He weaved his arm around her shoulders, bringing her body closer to his. She didn't question his actions, choosing to instead nuzzle closer to his neck.

"I love you..." she whispered, the butterfly in her hair glinting in the remaining light. A smile came onto his own face as he heard those words, tilting his head to the side so he could whisper in her ear.

"And I love you." A light gust of wind rustled his navy hair, blowing part of his bangs into his eyes. He reached up his spare hand and moved it out of the way, proceeding to place his hand behind his back, leaning on it. Darkness finally started to appear in the sky as last of the light faded from the sky, the stars just beginning to appear.

It had become tradition, he thought, to come out here every night and watch the sunset. To sit on the very same rock every time, to watch as light faded from the sky. It was one of her favorite things, and it had since become one of his. "Timpani..." he murmured, gaze still focused on the stars. When he didn't receive an answer, he turned his gaze over to the woman on his shoulder, seeing her closed eyes and the light rise and fall of her chest. She's sleeping... he thought silently, placing his finger on his chin.

Finally coming up with an idea, he carefully shifted his body to the side, careful not to disturb her rest. The hand around her shoulders moved down her back, while his other hand secured itself under her legs. With minimal noise, he stood up, letting her head rest against his chest. Her light blue dress swayed in the breeze as they walked through the fields, the moon casting a pale glow over her body. "My angel..." he whispered to her sleeping form, a small smile on his face. "So beautiful..."

She shifted, burying her face into his chest, a sigh of contentment escaping her. He walked on, still holding her tightly, protectively. I'll never lose you again...

With one last look back at the hill, his figure disappeared over the horizon. He knew that they would surely be back the next night.
