MCD: I honestly, truly, have 100% no friggin idea how or why I came up with this. But, go with the flow, da?
Muffins and Cupcakes
Kagome sighed and opened her very blue-y eyes to meet pretty light purple ones. Ivan smiled at her and kept petting her shiny black hair as she laid her head on his lap.
And dammit, she didn't care if anyone took that the wrong way because she was too comfortable to complain. Not like anyone could, they were alone at Russia's house.
Russia paused his hand on her forehead for a moment and blinked innocently.
"Kagome?"
"Yeah Ivan-chan?" she asked and propped her feet up on the far arm of the couch. It pretty much trapped both of them on the couch. Not that either one minded.
"I hear Americans call loved ones nicknames. What should I call you?" he asked childishly, in a way that Kagome found, dare she say, cute.
The little miko smiled, sitting up and adjusting herself into Ivan's lap and adjusted the back of her head on his shoulder. He immediately wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her more snugly to him, whether for warmth in Ivan's house or just to have her close, she didn't care.
"Well," she began, "I guess there are different names you could use. Honey is for someone you think is sweet and nurturing, I think, like bees and their honey. Sweet pea is another over-used one that people call someone they have come to love so much that they don't mind dumb pet names. Another popular one is cupcake, but I don't think that would fit me at all." She crinkled her nose disapprovingly.
Ivan, being the curious childlike man that he is, just had to ask. "Why?"
Kagome frowned. "A cupcake is pretty on the outside and inside. Pretty on the outside because of it's looks. On the inside because cupcakes always taste good, like a good personality. But they're also sickeningly sweet and they draw you in with their deliciousness, which I don't even have a metaphor for." She said wisely for the most part and sighed. Intending to stare at the ceiling, she instead met curious light purple eyes and ashen-gray hair. "I guess you could call me a muffin. Sweet and has a nice personality, but no looks and nothing that really draws you in- it's all underneath the surface. A muffin is just an ugly cupcake."
Russia smiled and rested his chin on the crown of her head. Kagome never failed to amuse him and teach him something new.
"Then call me cupcake. I am sickeningly sweet, no? And I taste good. Like vodka." He hummed and it vibrated against her back. Kagome giggled.
"Then call me muffin. Not the best looking but a good personality, I suppose. And I taste like you, so I got a 3 out of 3." She laughed and Russia grinned, gently turning her around in his lap so she could wrap her arms around his neck and his scarf around both of them. He gently kissed her and when he pulled back, he couldn't help but ask.
"Can I have another muffin?"
"Only if I can have a cupcake."
