I just had a random urge to write something Amy/Rory-y yesterday so I did (I don't think it's that brilliant and very short but oh well) but the vast majority of stuff I'm going to upload will always be harry potter fluff so don't panic! XD

Penny in the air

"Rory!"

There was a small scuffling noise from behind the large bin she was staring at, but no sandy haired boy appeared behind it. Mel tittered from a little way ahead.

"Don't be so stupid Rory- we know you're there. What are you following us for?"

No reply came.

Amy rolled her eyes. "You can actually walk with us you know – we are your friends."

There was a pause, and then he finally emerged, looking incredibly embarrassed.

"Yeah- right…sorry…I just didn't know if you would want to, now we're..." He gestured uselessly at the looming building in the semi-distance.

The girls stared at him.

"You are an absolute idiot." Said Amy finally, and he grinned and hurried over to join them, still a bit red in the face.

As he got nearer Amy found herself looking at her friend in surprise, she had barely seen him since school had ended a couple of months ago and in that time he had grown about three feet- as well as getting a haircut. It was very strange to have to look up at him instead of down, and she wasn't at all sure she liked it.

He seemed to notice this too and slumped his shoulders under his new school rucksack as he properly caught up with them- as if this would stop them noticing. Amy had to fight to stop herself from giggling when she saw this, and Mel just wasn't bothering but smirking unashamedly.

Rory cast a nervous look back at the bin they had just caught him hiding behind and his blush intensified.

"That was really weird wasn't it?"

Laughter bubbled inside Amy and she barely managed an embarrassingly high pitched "Yes!" before breaking down in giggles.

Soon Rory was laughing too and for a moment it was as if none of them had ever been separated at all and they were just three kids mucking around together again, but as Amy's laughter subsided slightly and she looked once again up at Rory's face, she felt something subtlety shift inside her.

She found herself grinning again just because of the way that happiness lit up his face, and her eyes hovered, just for a moment, over the soft curve of his lips. The minute she realised she was doing this, she looked away again and continued walking…but, in the instant before the moment was forgotten forever, she felt a slight fluttering sensation in her stomach- like butterfly wings, and saw a strangely triumphant smile on Mels face as she glanced at her.

The three friends walked past large the sign reading "Leadworth Comprehensive" with barely a hesitation.
