A/N: This is a small blurb I thought of after watching the season finale (finally!). I have fallen - hard - for the Simon and Rebecca pairing and I was really surprised at how sincere he was around her - even when he didn't really say anything.

Anyway, this is more in the method of... thought writing, I guess. I'm more of a "in the mind of the character" writer and less of a scene writer. If you understand that, here's a piece of fudge cake.

If you read this, please drop a word in and tell me how you like. You will also get a fudge cake slice for your efforts.

(PS: It has buttercream frosting!)

Disclaimer: No, I don't own Combat Hospital or have any affiliation with it besides as a viewer. If I did, do you really think I'd be writing fanfiction right now?

Bobby's words had hit home for her. Leaving things left unsaid was something everybody did at some point or another in their life, meaning to or not.

But she didn't want to do that with Simon. What was going on with his brother... what little she had heard of it, it was bad. The pain he would just barely let show, the behavior he displayed that was more troubling than anytime before and the small details that he had shared in vunerable moments all proved that to her. There was so much about that situation that she didn't want to press and yet wanted to know about it all. From his mouth. Seeing that side - that hurt side - changed her original view of him even more.

So when she went to the aiport terminal, it had been to make him know. To make him know that she cared. That she wanted him for him, and not the persona he made himself out to be.

Rebecca hoped that Simon understood what she meant by those simple little words. Come back. Not the greatest thing to say but it was the best she could think of. And it was true - even the unspoken part of it.

The sparkle in his eye and the oh so sincere smile that he gave back to her made her believe that he understood. She wasn't just saying come back. She was saying come back to me.

11 days later

Rebecca startled at the knock. No one had had a reason to knock on her door; at least not lately. And it's not like Grace was here - not for the next week - to have any visitors. Her curiosity threatened to depress her if it turned out to be another emergency call to the ER. It was her night off after all.

She opened the door, only to find a very... reserved Simon. Shoulders slightly hunched, body leaning against the door frame, face half hidden in the shadows that didn't quite cover up the dark circles under his eyes. He looked terrible.

Simon cracked a small smile when he saw her - which made her heart do a little dance pittar-patter dance routine in her chest. "Didn't think you'd be back so soon." She tried to say casually. She probably failed.

"To be fair, you didn't know when I'd be back. Or if." He added the last part in a quiter tone. It was barely noticable but in her sudden adrenaline state, it was way too noticable to ignore.

"I like to think that I knew you'd come back."

He walked in and closed to door for her. She let him. "No place I'd rather be."

"And the company?" She would of kicked her future self a month earlier for sound so... reliant on his answer.

"No one I'd rather be with." He kissed her then, knocking her off balance with surprise. Rebecca wound her arms around his neck and they eventually parted a few minutes later.

"I'm glad you came back, Simon." She hesitated before adding, "And I'm glad you came back to me."

"Me too." He smiled again and they just stood there - looking at each other for a long time thereafter - reading the few things left unsaid in each other's faces.
