"I'm sorry."

Her eyes flashed to the other reflection in her mirror that was suddenly in her mirror, blue eyes meeting gray. She hadn't heard him enter her quarters at all. She'd grown complacent in the safety of the Crystal Palace.

He wasn't a danger either, she knew. She watched over her shoulder when he first arrived. But, 200 years have passed and none of the four brothers had seemed the least bit threatening. They'd fallen into their lives. Some forgiving themselves and some being forgiven.

She'd really had no choice. Her lonely and kind-hearted king had yearned for his brothers. Her forgiving and ever optimistic queen had welcomed them home with open arms. Her sisters, her fellow senshi, had one by one forgiven, accepted, and resumed their lives.

She had accepted and resumed her life. She trusted them. She trusted him. But, she hadn't forgiven. She hadn't forgotten.

He hadn't seemed to either. While she was able to have pleasant conversations with the three other generals, even considering them friends, he stayed reserved. He stayed away. She allowed it. She preferred it. They could work together, plan together, smile while standing next to the same rulers which they both adored more than their own lives.

But, they'd never socialized. Never gotten drink. Never made any indication of what had happened.

However, he was here now, standing calm and tall in her quarters. The only indication of his inner turmoil the pain in his eyes.

She laid down her hair brush without breaking eye contact. Her hands folded into her lap and she made no move to respond.

"I'm so sorry," he repeated and this time she heard the pain in his voice. 200 years of guilt laced the three words.

She finally stood, tears she didn't know she still possessed filling her eyes, and turned to face him.

"I know."
