A/N: Okay, so Artemis Fowl isn't mine… so bye… (oh ya, and I gave Artemis a middle name because the books never mention his actual middle name… thanks).

"Excuse me sir, are you Domovoi? Domovoi Butler?" the nurse in the khaki blue scrubs tapped her clipboard and asked.

Butler looked up at her, "Yes, ma'am," answered Butler. The nurse looked surprised at his thick Eurasian accent and deep voice, unusual for someone so young; only in his twenties.

"Well… um, Mrs. Fowl has had a smooth delivery and wishes to see you now." She motioned down one corridor, "This way," she gestured for him to follow her.

Butler sighed and stood. Now for the moment of truth. He was going to meet his first charge. His responsibility. More precious to him than anything else. He gulped and scooped up Juliet, who was only four, having her rest on his shoulder. More important than his little sister.

They had been waiting in the sitting room for almost all of the night and Juliet was bleary, her blue eyes looking hazed. He wasn't as alert as he possibly could be either.

The nurse lead them down several hallways and into the birthing units. A wide corridor with woman being wheeled into the hospital, stomachs bloated with children. Other's still, were being wheeled out, beautiful babies, little boys and girls, in their arms…

Butler walked stiffly, familiarizing himself with this strange and untouched territory.

"Butler, where're we going?" Juliet enquired, rubbing her eyes.

"To see Mrs. Fowl's new baby," Butler whispered, kissing her forehead, and was rewarded with a few blonde hairs on his tongue.

The nurse stopped suddenly in front of a door. "In here, sir," and she pushed open the door.

Butler walked in to find Mrs. Fowl propped up in the hospital bed, fanning herself with her hand, her light blonde hair twisted into a loose bun on the top of her head.

A smile spread across her face. "Ah, Butler," she greeted, kind as always, "so glad you could join us."

Mr. Fowl sat quietly by Angeline's bed, in a chair that looked uncomfortable and probably felt worse. He smiled too, although his lips were trembling slightly and it turned into more of a wobbly grimace.

There was a moment of silence.

"Oh I can't stand it any longer," Angeline trilled, "Timmy, take Juliet and let Butler see our child!"

Artemis held out his arms and Juliet climbed into them.

"Mrs. Fowl gave birth to a handsome baby boy," the nurse chimed in.

"Angeline's smile widened. "Artemis Alexander Fowl the second," she chirped, "after his father!"

Mr. Fowl's face was the epitome of joy.

"He's in the incubator," the nurse, took Butler's arm and lead him across the room.

Butler steeled his breath and looked down into the machine. Two handsome blue eyes looked back up at him, wide and curious. He had pale, pale skin, and fine raven hair. Butler put a hand on the incubator. He was so small.

"He's healthy?" he asked.

"Perfectly healthy…" Angeline beamed.

Butler allowed himself a small smile. He knew from the gleam in his charges eyes that Artemis Fowl II would be one of his greatest job, greatest friend and his greatest pain in the neck.

And Butler didn't even know about the fairies, or the trolls, or the time travel. Yet.
