I don't own The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, or Makoto and Chiaki…

Enjoy!

It had been ten years since Makoto had seen Chiaki, over that time she had become more mature, she cared about her future, it had seemed like a pointless decision at first, but after the events with 'the boy from the future' she had obviously chosen Arts. She had followed in her Aunty Witch's footsteps, and learnt how restore and preserve art, including the nameless painting, he had loved. For the last 8 years, every other night Makoto went and sat at the bench near the shore, watching the sun go down, she had stayed near her home, she spent time at the museum, she even went and sat in the stands at the baseball field reading, or watching the kids that played catch like she used to.

Makoto stared out at the slowly sinking sun. She sighed as it was eventually out of sight, it suddenly went eerily quiet when it had, and now all she could hear was the sound of children's bike chains. A memory flashed into her mind. She pictured her younger self flying over the barrier at the train tracks, and the train ramming into her and her bike. Obviously, that hadn't happened in the end, Makoto had time leapt, saving her life. She closed her eyes and listened closer. She heard gravel crunching under someone's feet, it stopped almost as soon as she heard it. Makoto looked up, someone was stood about 10 feet away from her, she heard a snigger, and he looked up. Makoto stood, she stared at the fiery headed man, he was still pale, and tall,

"Chiaki?" She whispered. He laughed again, Makoto ran to him and hugged him close. Chiaki held her to his chest and whispered into her hair,

"I'm sorry it took me so long" he said looking down at her. Makoto pulled back and looked up at him,

"I would have waited longer" she laughed lightly,

"I know, you always were stubborn" he sniggered. Makoto rolled her eyes,

"And you always did tell the funniest jokes" she replied. Makoto then stared into Chiaki's eyes, his gaze was locked in hers, "What?" she whispered,

"Your twice as pretty as when I left" he replied,

"Idiot" Makoto said letting go of him, "Just let me get my bag" As Makoto turned, Chiaki caught her wrist and pulled her into his arms again.

"I. Love. You" he said slowly before cupping her left cheek in his hand, their faces inched closer until their lips were together. When Makoto recovered from utter shock, she closed her eyes and wrapped her arms around his shoulders. Chiaki pulled away, and Makoto held him tight again,

"I'm never gonna let go now"…
