Burt

As the clock ticked in the living room, one Burt Hummel was settling onto the couch after a hard day at the garage when the sound of the front door opening distracted him from trying to find a good show to watch.

Seeing that it was his son, Kurt, who came into the living room, dropped his bag on the ground, and settled next to him, Burt relaxed and went back to channel surfing.

"How was school?" Burt questioned.

"Good, Mr. Schue showed us our twelfth place trophy today. Glee club had lots of fun for its final meeting for this year. We sang Don't stop Believin' just to reminisce."

"How was your coffee date with Blaine?"

When Kurt first came to him and told him that Blaine was his boyfriend now, Burt had been skeptical. First the guy was gay, then bi, then he kissed that Rachel girl but not before singing to some guy at Gap before the bi-thing and then the preppy boy had the nerve to come to his garage to tell him that he had to speak to his own son about sex. What was this guy? Burt still didn't trust the guy that much, though he was starting to like the kid, especially after the 'Prom Incident'. The kid was there to support his son. That had to count for something.

"It was wonderful," Kurt breathed out and Burt had to back-track to remember what question he asked him. The tone that he used was not one that he had heard Kurt use before. Burt turned to his sun and Kurt had this glowing tender look on his face. He was smiling, with teeth flashing. Burt knew whatever that it was that would let Kurt smile his self-conscious toothy smile had gotta be big. He was filled with wonder and awe because Burt had never seen his son look like this before!

"He told me he loved me," Kurt said to him, like the impossible had happened. Burt swallowed. This… this was huge! Someone told his son that they loved him! It wasn't like Burt thought no one would ever love Kurt. His son was a great kid. Anyone would be lucky to have him. It was just that he never thought it would this early or this easy.

"How did you respond?"

"I told him that I loved him too." He answered back shyly, looking at Burt self-consciously, wondering if he went too far in sharing all this. Burt took a deep breath. Okay, so maybe he didn't trust Blaine so much before, but if the kid could make his own son like this, telling him he loved him in a public place where anyone could have heard him, it meant that Blaine was in it for real. Him making his son very happy was also nice. It looked like he would have to get to know this boy even better. Burt didn't think that this would be the typical high school relationship. He had a feeling it would be more.

"Guess we gotta invite Blaine here for dinner one of those Friday nights, eh?"

Kurt just grinned at him before giving him a hug.
