Hiya!
Well, this is a totally new story – I thought my murdering Becker stories got a bit angsty (and certain people wanted to shoot me with an EMD!) so I decided I'd do some serious fluff for a change...along with a bit more angsty stuff! (Is angsty a word?)
Each chapter is a letter of the alphabet; they're centred around Becker and Jess, and start at the point they met – I imagine it was something like this!
Anyways, sorry for the long intro, I don't own Primeval. Other than that, just enjoy! This is for BethBecker xxx
"Hey."
Becker barely glanced up from his beer. His day was not going well. After two separate anomaly alerts, and a day of running around after dinosaurs, his idea of enjoyment was bed. Perhaps that wasn't very professional for a soldier, but did he care? No. Bed was good.
But, being as they were, his colleagues had decided to drag him out for a drink. They'd abandoned him ages ago, probably to dance to the unbearably loud music bursting from the speakers, or to flirt with anyone they could find. He didn't know where they were, and he didn't particularly care either; he just fancied going to sleep on the bar.
"You're Becker, right?"
"Mm," he agreed half-heartedly, turning to face the voice. He was surprised – the girl who stood in front of him was…was pretty. Why would a pretty girl talk to him? He could feel himself blushing now.
"I'm Jess," she didn't seem perturbed by his embarrassment.
He gave a deep sigh, "Oh, right; Jess. The new admin kid."
Now she looked offended, "So that's what you call me behind my back? No wonder you're sitting on your own – you're hardly very good at conversation, are you?"
"I didn't exactly want to be here," he mumbled, but still he found himself oddly attracted to the girl – she had bright wide eyes, and a warm smile. She hovered on the spot; she wore high heels, and a mini-dress, and seemed uncomfortable. He bit his lip and shuffled along the bench a little. "Can I get you a drink or something?"
Her smile widened, and he found himself smiling along with her as she sat down beside him, "I never thought you'd ask! Orange juice, please."
"Such willpower…"
"I wish. My mother would murder me if I drank."
"How old are you? Is it even legal?"
"Cheeky!" she leant sideways as the barman handed her over the juice, and her long wavy hair brushed Becker's shoulder, sending a shiver up his spine, "I'm 19, actually! And, since you don't know, I'm a field co-ordinator!"
"Glad we've got that one sorted out," he smirked, kicking himself again for feeling happy – it wasn't normal! "You know, you're right about the whole conversation thing. I wasn't born to be the chatty one. My mates call me an emotional retard."
"Great mates," she muttered. Becker nodded in agreement; at that moment, he caught sight of Matt, Connor and Abby wandering back towards him. Jess followed his gaze and smiled. "Well, it looks like I'm about to meet them."
What does anyone think? It's a bit short, but I'm writing more! Please give me feedback – I'd love it! Also, if anyone has any ideas for future letters of the alphabet, I'd be very grateful! Thanks for reading – please review :)
