Erza sighed as she took off her helmet, trying - in vain - to smooth out her hair as it danced with the wind.
"Miss, are you aware of the speed limit on the highway?" Barely suppressing a scoff and instead settling for a scowl, she turned to the cop.
"Yes." The tall man brought his face dangerously close to hers, a toothy grin playing on his lips.
"And can you please tell me what it is?"
Begrudgingly, she grunted out slowly, "65 miles per freaking hour." He smirked at her, giving her a once-over and raising a brow at her attitude. "Good - you know the rules. Now, can you tell me the speed you were riding at?"
She bowed her head, irritated as she gritted her teeth.
"87."
Erza drummed her slim fingers against the side of her motorcycle, the crimson metallic coat matching her equally red hair.
"Look, with all due respect sir, may I leave? I'm late for something." The officer raised a brow at this.
"Oh? And just where, pray tell, are you going Miss – " He trailed off, leaving her to fill in the blank.
"Scarlet, Erza Scarlet." She smiled softly at the dark-haired man, all tension forgotten.
"Okay Miss Scarlet, Erza Scarlet. And to what – may I ask – are you late for?" The stone-cold beauty found herself almost laughing at his poor attempt to flirt with her.
"Well, I know don't look like it, but I'm gonna be acting in as a midwife – for my friend." She added in.
"Oh yeah. That is – pretty surprising." His voice was slow as he eyed her tall profile, his gaze ending at her pretty, little face.
"Yeah, I get that a lot. Well, I better go. Wouldn't wanna keep my friend waiting. You know how pregnant women can be." He shook his head.
"Actually, no. I don't – I'm single." Erza raised a fine brow at the comment as she ran a hand through fiery tresses.
"Officer, what are you – trying to hit on me?" She watched, clearly amused as he rubbed the back of his neck in chagrin.
"Uh, it depends. How do you wanna take it?" She sent him a confident smirk.
"How 'bout I let you figure that out?" With that, she revved up her bike and sped away, not daring to look back at the police man whose name was still left unknown to her. She merely hoped that Lucy wouldn't chew her out too much. After all, she had gotten pulled over by a cop – and a very attractive one at that.
She sighed. Somehow, she just knew that she would be seeing him again, what with her terrible speeding habits and all.
That very attractive cop.
