Summary: Ever since they were young, Red has always hated the fact that he was smaller than the other boys were; but as long as it's Green… well, Red figures that it was okay.

Ever since they were young, Red has always hated the fact that he was smaller than the other boys. He blamed it all on his mother and her stupid petite frame as he looked up to all the kids in his first grade class, frowning and mentally sizing the spare inch or three that they had against him. Then he met Green, who, at six, was roughly around the same size as Red himself.

Red instantly forged a friendship with Green, but what started out as a friendship based on size quickly became a friendship based on… well… Red had thought that it was because Green was nice to him, but he was sure that it was something more than that. Red was happy though, even when Green managed to grow a couple of inches taller. He was irritated at first of course, slightly peeved that his best friend had managed to weasel out a couple of inches; But Green, who always seemed to know whatever it was when it came to Red himself, only laughed, cheering Red up with the promises that Red will grow taller too.

Roughly 20 years later and Red found that Green was right. Though Red was still smaller than Green by a couple of inches, he found that he didn't care anymore. With his smaller figure, Red fit perfectly when folded into Green's arms. His head was at the perfect height to bury into the gap between Green's shoulder and neck at night, and let's not get started on how much Red absolutely loves the fact that Green's sweatshirts were positively comfortable all huge and baggy around him.

Red sometimes wonders if Green remembers his little childhood obsession with growing taller, but then he remembers the little knowing looks that Green would sometimes give him when he drank his morning cup of milk and Red feels like face palming at wondering if Green ever forgot anything. His little chuckles at Red's reddening face when Green catches him snuggling into the warm oversized sweatshirt were a little embarrassing, Red would admit, but as long as it's Green… well, Red figures that it's okay.

Because of his smaller frame, at night, cuddled into Green's strong embrace and falling asleep securely in his arms, Red felt incredibly safe and hidden from the world. With Green's unique scent lulling him to sleep, the legs that securely intertwined with his own, and the warmth of Green's slightly larger body every night… well, Red was sure that it was all worth the embarrassment of a childhood memory.
