I own nothing.
It wasn't supposed to be a hard mission.
In hindsight, it wasn't, however the sheer numbers they were up against was just maddening. One man is strong, but an army can move a mountain. It felt whenever they took down one, another two popped up.
The team had made it into courtyard, still carrying the precious data they had just obtained. Artemis had gone down five minutes ago. She had run out of arrows ten minutes ago and had proceeded to fight with basis hand to hand combat until one of the guards managed to knock her unconscious. Kid Flash was beginning to run low on energy, knocking down as many enemies as he could with his speed. His quick disarmament of the enemies' weapons saved his teammates lives more than once. The rest of the team was beginning to tire, defending and moving as fast as they can.
Then they reached a dead end.
In front of them was a wall that Superboy was trying to break. Behind them was a hoard of guards ready to gun them down.
"Freeze! Put your hands up in the air!"
The first squadron had found them. Behind them were another forty soldiers.
Robin stepped in front of his teammates.
"Get back Robin," Kaldur ordered. He shifted his position to protect the unconscious Artemis behind him.
Robin ignored him. Instead he laughed. "You know, freeze is a funny word to use at a time like this. If we literally froze, how could we hold up our hands?"
"Do you think this is a game?" one of the guards snarled.
Something shifted in Robin. He gave a sharp smile, vastly different from the friendly grin he normally had. "A game? No. I'm not in the mood to play anymore. Just walk away."
The guards laughed. "Not without that disk boy."
"What are you doing Robin?" Wally hissed.
"This."
Robin vanished.
Two guys to the left fell instantly. A slight glimpse of red was the only signal everyone had before a third guard to the far right dropped to the ground.
"What the hell?" one of the captains yelled. "Don't just stand there, stop him!" Another four in the back fell.
The team watched in awe. They couldn't even seen Robin moving; the Boy Wonder blending into the shadows. There no crackling laughter, not even the whirling sounds of birdarangs flying. They just watched as the guards continued to drop like flies.
"Where the hell is he?" Another guard shouted in a panic. A quick punch to the gut had him dropping faster than a sack of potatoes.
Finally, the last man was left standing. Shaking his eyes darted back and forth, trying to locate Robin. "Come out you coward!" he shouted. Then he remembered that other teens. Turning, he aimed his gun. Megan closed her eyes as the rest of the team let out a small gasp.
Before he could pull the trigger, Robin appeared behind him and karate chopped him in the neck. The guard crumbled to the ground. "Go to sleep." Robin said.
"50 guards in a span of 180000 milliseconds," Wally said breathlessly.
"3 minutes," Superboy dully converted.
Robin dusted his hands and glanced around the area littered with unconscious bodies. "Let's get out of here," he said. He headed towards another hallway.
"Where did he learn to do that?" Megan whispered. Superboy picked up the still unconscious Artemis and they followed after Robin.
"I believeā¦ he's been holding back on us," Kaldur said. "Batman must have taught him."
Wally looked at the sheer number of unconscious bodies on the ground. "He's definitely been holding back."
The End.
For those curious about why Wally counts in milliseconds, it's a small headcanon fact that because his brain process at such high speeds, when he counts, mentally in his head, it's in milliseconds.
