Cherry Stems
It all started with a bag of cherries.
Burgundy locks fell into violet eyes as nimble fingers reached into a bag of dark red cherries. Picking one of the delicacies from the bag, the owner of the fingers brought the fruit to her lips. "Hey, Sora. Did you know that if you can tie a knot in a cherry stem with your tongue, it means that you're a great kisser?" She questioned, plucking the cherry from its stem and popping it into her mouth with a grin.
Wide cerulean orbs looked over at the girl as the boy being questioned, Sora, reached for his own cherry. "No, I've never heard that, Kairi. Who told you that?" He stared at the cherry between his fingers, brown spikes of hair dancing with the wind from the near beach. They were on the roof of a shack on the Island, watching the sun set. The orange glow illuminated the sand, the water, the people lounging on the beach in a blanket of gold. It was beautiful.
Kairi laughed lightly, throwing her head back and letting her long hair slip over her shoulders. Her hair had grown out in the past two years, making her look older. She looked back at Sora with a smile on her face. "Selphie did. She says that she's asked all the guys she's ever dated if they could tie a knot in a cherry stem, and the ones that could were indeed very, very good kissers."
Sora's cute features pulled into a scowl. "Can you?"
Kairi snorted in humor, shooting Sora a look. "Wouldn't you like to know?" She teased, pushing herself up to stand before brushing her clothes off for any stray crumbs of sand that may have blown from the beach.
Sora flushed slightly, raising his hands in defense. "Wh-No, no! I didn't mean it like that, really! I just was curious-" He began, but Kairi's light laugh cut him off.
Smiling down at him, she ruffled his spiky locks before jumping off the roof of the shack. "Curiosity killed the cat, Sora." She joked, tossing him a parting wave over her shoulder. "I'll see you tomorrow, 'kay Sor'?" She turned back around, skipping toward her home. "Keep the cherries!"
Sora frowned, watching her go. Absently, he returned his gaze to the setting sun and popped a cherry stem into his mouth.
It all escalated with curiosity.
"Riku!"
Sora slipped into Riku's room through his window, plopping down onto the downy bed perched beneath it. He had the bag of cherries in his grasp. He glanced around Riku's neat room-computer desk, laptop, flat screen TV, video game system, bookshelf, backpack, closet, posters, dresser, pictures, random knick-knacks-and found no Riku.
Running a tanned hand through mocha spikes, Sora let himself fall flat on the bed before plucking another cherry from the bag and popping it into his mouth. In the background he could faintly hear the sound of running water; Riku was most likely taking a shower.
Sure enough, five minutes and quite a few cherries later, Riku came into his room, a towel wrapped around his waist and his hair damp from his late shower.
"Riku!"
"Shit-" Riku jumped, spinning around-because he had turned around to close and lock his door for the night; it was habit to lock his door, now-and letting his surprised gaze fall on the troubled-looking Sora in his bed. "Don't do that, Sora. Why are you here?" His gaze flitted over the clock next to his bed. "It's eleven at night. Shouldn't you be asleep?" Not that Riku minded; he was accustomed to Sora's random late night appearances.
"I could say the same to you." Sora shot back, a smile lacing his lips as he sat up. "I tried, but I guess I've got too much on my mind."
Riku didn't respond immediately. Sora watched as his best friend slipped over to his dresser and began digging around for some clothes. The muscles of his back tightened and relaxed as he moved, drawing Sora's attention. He really was quite attractive, if Sora could say so himself-
-But he wasn't saying so himself, so it didn't matter. Right?
Riku still hadn't responded when he let the towel slip from around his waist, causing Sora's eyes to slip downward and a hot blush to spread across Sora's cheeks and neck. It wasn't like he hadn't seen Riku naked before-besides, it was just his back and his butt, nothing major-but still. Sora swallowed before licking dry lips, his mind absently noting that Riku had a very nice-
"So, too much on your mind, huh?"
Riku's voice cut through Sora's bad thoughts. Sora tore his eyes away as Riku nonchalantly slipped a pair of boxers onto his body followed by a loose, white t-shirt. Sora cleared his throat, toying with the plastic of the cherry bag as Riku turned around to face his friend.
The flush on Sora's cheeks didn't go unnoticed, only unmentioned.
"Yeah-" Sora started, his voice quite. "Yeah, uh, Kairi told me something and, uhm, well, I was able to do it, but I just-Can you tie a knot in a cherry stem with your tongue, Riku?" His words sputtered out from between his lips before he was aware they had. His blush deepened and Riku raised a curious eyebrow.
"I can, but-Let me guess, Kairi told you that little tale about tying knots in cherry stems and kissing, hm?" Riku questioned lightly, a small smirk beginning to lace his lips. He sauntered over to his bed and leaned over Sora to grab a cherry. He quickly plucked the stem from the cherry and popped the stem in between his lips, letting his tongue snake out to bring the item into his mouth.
With wide eyes, Sora watched as Riku did so, his gaze trained to Riku's pink lips. Since when did he notice so much about his guy best friend?
Within moments, Riku reached up and took the stem out of his mouth, and sure enough, the stem was bent into a clean, even knot. He tossed the stem into a nearby trash can before eating the cherry he had stolen the stem from.
Sora found his voice when Riku sat down next to him on the bed. "So… that means you're a good kisser, then?" He felt small, and completely overdressed in his clothes that he had been wearing that day. Riku leaned back on his elbows and tilted his head, his silver hair falling over his shoulders.
"So I've been told." He smirked haughtily. "You said you could tie a knot in a stem? Well, then I guess that means you are, too. I mean, haven't any of the girls you've kissed told you if you are or not?" Riku raised his brows before reaching for the TV remote to turn it on. He ran his fingers through his silver locks to ensure they didn't frizz as they dried.
Sora gave a slight smile, rubbing the back of his neck before leaning back as Riku had. "Oh, yeah. Definitely." He chewed his bottom lip.
Riku rolled his eyes, amusement evident in them. "You're terrible at lying."
"I'm not lying!" Sora defended. Riku raised an eyebrow.
"Oh? I don't even believe you've kissed anyone by the response you gave."
Sora flushed. Well, he was lying. He had never kissed anyone in his life. But he could tie a knot in a cherry stem, so that had to mean something, right?
Riku, awaiting Sora's response to his teasing, let his eyes flicker to the television, and it was at that moment that Sora decided to, well, be Sora.
Without warning, Sora found himself grabbing Riku's shoulders and pressing his lips against Riku's. Riku's eyes widened with absolute astonishment, but before he could do anything, he felt Sora's tongue in his mouth and-
Oh, heavens.
Riku's eyes slid shut, his arms naturally wrapping around Sora's waist. Sora felt Riku's movement and felt fear and nerves fill his stomach, but then he felt Riku's tongue dancing with his own and thought that maybe the fear and nerves were worth it.
No one had to know that Sora had no clue what he was doing.
Sora was halfway laying on Riku who was halfway sitting up, his back against the wall behind his bed. Sora's tongue swirled and teased and drew Riku's into a kiss that Riku had never anticipated from Sora, of all people, and before Riku knew it, his body was acting upon itself.
Sora slid his hands around Riku's neck and into the boy's hair, tugging gently when Riku groaned and brought Sora's bottom lip in between his teeth. Sora gave a soft noise, his shoulders relaxing as tingles erupted throughout his body.
Sora slid his hands to Riku's cheeks, pulling Riku with him before falling backward on the bed with Riku falling on top, his face pressed into Sora's neck. Sora let his hands slide down Riku's back when he felt Riku's tongue flick out and tease the now-hot skin of his neck. Sora felt as if every nerve in his body was on fire, and when he heard Riku groan into his ear he thought he might just combust into flames.
Why in hell hadn't he done this sooner?
Caught in the heat, Sora slid his hands up into Riku's hair and pulled the boy's face up to his own before ducking his head to the crook of Riku's neck, nipping and kissing the delicate flesh he found there. Riku's eyes fluttered closed, his head falling to the side to allow Sora more access to do whatever it was he was doing that felt wonderful.
Without realizing it, one of Riku's hands was gripping Sora's hip and the other was languidly teasing the skin just beneath Sora's shorts, and then Sora was arching upward, mewing quietly as his body burned beneath Riku's touch. Sora clutched at Riku's hair, tugging harshly as Riku's fingers grazed beneath his shorts just a little too close to that place that happened to be throbbing at the moment. Riku chuckled breathily and Sora brought Riku's earlobe in between his teeth, tugging gently and flicking his tongue over the sensitive flesh in a way that left Riku's fingers twitching and his breath coming short.
Sora was going mad. He couldn't believe he hadn't ever done this before, and Riku's hands were driving him out of his mind.
"Riku," Sora managed to squeak out, pressing his lips to Riku's neck. "Riku-hands."
Riku's airy chuckle caused Sora's stomach to twist in a way that felt delicious, and the next thing he knew, Riku's hands were out and away from Sora's shorts and on the bed beside Sora's head. Sora groaned. Reluctantly, Riku pushed himself up to look down at the boy beneath him.
Riku smirked. "You're still a terrible liar."
Sora's eyes widened, a blush once again taking over his cheeks and his neck at being caught lying about having been kissed and told he was a good kisser. "Hey-I-But-"
Riku's lips silenced him, his tongue teasing Sora's bottom lip before he pulled away and looked at Sora again. "But that doesn't mean that you aren't fucking fantastic at using that mouth of yours."
Sora smiled coyly as he wrapped a strand of Riku's silver hair around his index finger. Chewing his bottom lip in a manner Riku dubbed cute, Sora tugged Riku back down to kiss him again.
"Well, then," Sora spoke, voice low. "Allow me to use this mouth of mine."
And he proceeded to do so.
And it all ended with a kiss.
I suppose I've been in a writing mood lately, this fic being the second I've written in the past two days. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed! This was just a little something that popped in my head when I saw the new Dr. Pepper cherry commercial where the girl drinks the Dr. Pepper cherry and then ends up with a cherry stem with a knot in it in her mouth. Yeah, I don't know, either. By the way, the reason Kairi didn't give Sora a direct answer was most certainly because she cannot tie a knot in a cherry stem in this fic. :P
So, my friends, I must ask: can YOU tie a knot in a cherry stem with your tongue? ;)
