Author's Note: A very short fluff that wouldn't stop eating away at me until I wrote it down.
This is for all LoLu (Loke x Lucy) fans out there. Sorry if I couldn't do the pairing enough justice. A little hint of Loke x Aries, too.
When Lucy tried to summon Loke against the Edolas Royal Guards, Virgo popped up instead. She told her Loke was on a date and could not be bothered. What really happened on that date?
"Open the Gate of the Lion. Loke!"
"You called for your Prince Charming, Lucy?
"Uh... Yeah, something like that."
"So, what can I do for you?"
"Would you get mad if I said I just needed someone to talk to?"
"N-No. Of course... not."
"Leo?"
A soft voice he knew so well snapped him out of his reverie. Loke shook his head and turned his attention to the woman in front of him. Her innocent face, turned to the side to avoid eye contact, radiated genuine concern. Her hands were clasped behind her back as she gently swayed from left to right.
"Yes, Aries?"
"I'm sorry! You were spacing out and..." she broke off, trying to hide her flustered face.
"It's okay. I just remembered of something."
"Were you thinking about Lucy?"
"Huh? No! I wasn't thinking about her," said the Lion spirit.
"I-I'm sorry!" Aries turned away in embarrassment. Tiny beads of tears were forming in the corners of her eyes.
"Uh, well, maybe I was thinking about her. Just a little," he admitted, tilting his head to look up. The skies of the spirit realm never stood still, constantly lit up by a multitude of stars that circled the great expanse. It reminded him of how he once felt—a star without a home in the sky. That changed when he met the stellar spirit mage. Lucy was the only one to have shown him real kindness; the only one who made him feel that someone actually needed him.
Need me? That's right; I told Virgo to come out in my stead if ever Lucy tried to summon me. She'll take care of Lucy for me.
"Leo... I'm sorry. You don't have to do this if you don't want to," mumbled Aries.
"It's alright, really." He looked up one last time at the sky and sighed.
So many stars but not a single one as lovely as you, my princess.
