Chapter 8
Bella's POV:
Tanya and I were walking down a path in comfortable silence. It was late and dark. Only the sound of our walking could be heard. I looked up and feared that it would rain soon. I at least wanted to get her inside before then in case she caught a cold. A wind blew through and Tanya's scent caressed my nose. She smelled so heavenly.
"I'm sorry I didn't get the chance to dance with you." I said. I was surprised of my forwardness. I held my breath as I waited for her answer.
She looked at me and smiled genuinely, "I would've liked that very much. Maybe next time." She winked.
My heart rate accelerated. I inwardly smiled. Tanya can do the littlest thing, and I can have a flutter in my heart. Every time I'm near her, I feel my body being charged. I'm nervous; I'm nervous I will make a fool out of myself. I can't really think properly as I would like to. It took more effort than I'd like just to think of something to say. It was as if she herself clouded my thoughts; my mind becomes so foggy.
I smiled back, "Hopefully."
I looked back to the path ahead. I could feel her eyes on me. The longer she stared, the more nervous I became. I racked my brain, trying to think of something, anything that will take the pressure off.
I cleared my throat, "So, what does the great queen doing here when she could have a much better time with her family?" I cringed. I wish I hadn't asked that, especially when I saw the look Tanya gave.
"Make no mistake, my time is well spent here. As much as I love my family, I think it is more important for me to be here. You will understand some day." Tanya said
I looked at her, trying to figure out what she meant. Before I could say something or even think, she sighed.
"Do you think I've been around here too much?" She asked
My breath caught in my throat. I was stunned. Did she think I did not enjoy her company? That was unacceptable.
I shook my head vigorously, "No, no I do not think that. If anything, you are not around enough." I bit my lip. I really did need to think before I say something. I hoped with all my might that she didn't pick up my feelings towards her. I may have been too eager in my response. I didn't even know if she had a special someone. I didn't want to get attached to her only to have my heart broken. I was torn between professing my feelings to her and keeping them buried deep in my heart.
I remember seeing men and women go through heartbreak. It could drive you crazy. You may never be the same again. I closed my eyes and hoped that I would never know what it felt like.
Tanya smiled, "I'm glad to hear you say that."
I smiled gently. I looked ahead and saw her castle in view. We were nearly there.
We walked for a little while longer. I stopped when we reached the gates. Outsiders were not allowed in unless we had permission to enter by a royal. She turned to look at me with a smile, "You can come in." She said gesturing. I smiled and followed her.
We were now on her castle grounds. The laws and rules are now completely changed. She led me to the castle; all the while I was dodging people, mules, and horses.
A yellow flyer on the wall caught my eye. I looked to my left and saw that a fair was going to be held here. I felt someone stand beside me and knew it was Tanya.
"We have a lot of those here. It always seems to make the people happy. It will be a huge event. As you can see, they are already starting to set it up. It would be a great pleasure if you would attend it with me." She said, whispering in my ear.
I couldn't move for a moment. Everything about that experience just now was intoxicating. I loved how close her body was to mine.
I turned to her and smiled, "It would be an honor to attend."
Her smile grew. You would think she was just announced to be the queen by her facial expression. "I will see you then. Thank you for walking me home." She kissed just below my ear, where my neck was. I was grateful that she left and didn't turn back to look at me for I was once again immobile.
I was finally able to move. I made my way out. I was surprised no one noticed that interaction.
Now there really was no denying it. She really did have some feelings towards me. Whether it would be good or bad, I wasn't sure.
I stopped walking when I realized something. I just agreed to go to the fair with her! I was extremely happy and furious at myself at the same time. 'What's wrong with you?' I asked myself. I still didn't know if she was single or not. What if she is trying to have an affair? I scolded myself at the thought. I didn't like thinking that my crush was a run-around.
The whole way home, I praised and scolded myself. This was probably the biggest battle I ever had with myself. A part of me said don't fall for her, it will only bring you pain. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Another part of me said that you have an opportunity of a life time. You may have something that not many people have. My body and mind was growing tired to resisting her. It seemed nearly impossible to refuse her. Did I want to? Absolutely not. Should I? Maybe.
I went to sleep with a million thoughts running through my mind.
Tanya's POV:
I closed the door behind me and basked, closing my eyes. I felt like I was high. High on my mate. I had such a euphoric feeling when I was near her. I almost felt human. The little butterflies were still soaring in my stomach.
A voice broke out of my thoughts. I was instantly annoyed that I was brought out of my bliss.
"So, I'm guessing you laid down with her then?" Kate asked with a big smile.
I looked at her and then smiled and chuckled, "Trust me, Kate. When I lay down with my mate, you'll know it. Everyone will know it." I said
Kate grinned, "I'm sure. You-"
"I'm glad you are here at last." Eleazar said, coming down the stairs.
I looked behind Kate to see Irina, Eleazar and Carmen coming down. They all looked rather displeased.
I started walking to them, "What is wrong?"
"The Volturi wish to speak with us, now." Carmen said
"Do you know what about?" I asked, following them out. Kate was right beside me.
"We assume it's about Bella." Irina said.
I stopped and everything in me froze. "What about my mate?" I demanded.
Eleazar grabbed my arm, making me follow again. "Please try to calm down. You don't want them knowing how upset you are. That will just please them and cause more problems. I don't think she's in danger."
"So they didn't give any clue as to what they were interested in?" Kate asked.
Irina shook her head, "They probably want us to be in suspense." I heard anger laced with her voice.
"The sooner we get there, the sooner our minds will be at ease." Carmen said
That was one of the longest trips I've ever had. It seemed like it took forever. We walked up to the huge wooden gates and Eleazar knocked. He looked to me and whispered, "I beg of you. Please do not get too excited in front of them. Jane will surely try to get a rise out of you. Do not give them reason to punish."
"You just want me to hold my tongue?" I asked, angrily.
He nodded, "Do it for your mate."
That was all I needed to hear. I would indeed do it for my mate. I would do anything for Bella.
The doors creaked in protest and opened to reveal Demetri and Marcus. "Ah, you have arrived. Perhaps in record time." Marcus said. Please come with us."
We stepped in and walked down the halls. With each step we took, the ground echoed. I was annoyed that we were walking at human pace. I've been waiting long enough. Finally, they led us into a large room.
"Please sit." Demetri said
We each sat on a chair and Marcus said, "They will be in shortly. They are just finishing up some business."
On cue, we heard a scream, followed by what sounded like rocks being crushed. My coven and I looked at each other with sadness. No one had to say anything to know what was going on. A vampire has been put to their final death. Marcus and Demetri left without saying another word.
We waited for a few minutes in silence before Irina stood up and walked over to me. She knelt down beside me and whispered, "I have to tell you something, sister. It's about Bella." My family took the hint and pretended to be interested in something else.
"What is it?" I asked, concerned.
"I'm at war with myself right now. I keep debating on whether or not I should tell you. It really isn't my place to tell but I figured it would be better to find out this way than…the other way. I know this is the wrong time to be telling you this but I can't hold it in any longer." She said
"Just say it." I was growing frustrated and nervous.
She sighed. "It's about how you and Bella's offspring is created."
I didn't hide the smile and excitement. "Yeah?" I said, encouraging her to continue.
"Well…you see, Bella um. I don't know how to say this." She said, turning her head, not meeting my eyes.
I threw my hands up, "What?"
"Bella has the…necessary 'equipment' to-" Irina was cut off by Eleazar's chuckle. Carmen hit him in the shoulder. He covered his mouth in hopes to contain any more laughter. I guess they were listening now.
I turned my attention back to Irina, "What do you mean by equipment?" I asked
Irina looked uncomfortable. I knew if she was still human, she would be as red as a tomato. "She, she has something extra. She has a…a. Oh, I can't say it out loud."
"She has a penis." Kate said casually. I could tell she got tired of waiting. My whole coven looked at me, waiting for my reaction.
I thought about it for a few minutes. That actually made sense. No wonder she didn't seem so soft in the middle when we danced. I noticed it yes, but I didn't really think about it. I smiled; my baby was for hard me. I was ecstatic.
"Well?" Carmen asked
I looked at her, "Well what?"
"How do you feel about that?" She asked
"Oh!" I giggled. "I will say that I'm a little shocked. I never knew that could happen. Despite that, it doesn't faze me one little bit. I don't love her any less. She will always be my mate." I turned to Irina, "Why so bashful sister? You are usually easy talking about sex."
"I wasn't quite sure how you would respond. I wanted to tell you before you found out the hard way. Plus, I didn't want to upset you by talking about your mate in a not so 'innocent' way. I'm so relieved." She said
I shook my head and laughed, "Like I said. I'm not fazed. In fact, I think it just makes me more excited, more turned on. I can't wait to show her how much I love and appreciate her."
Carmen made a bashful expression, "You didn't have to say that." She was the more proper lady out of the women in our coven.
Everyone laughed. Kate walked over to me and brought her arm around me. "You are a very lucky woman, Tanya. You get a two for one deal." She smiled mischievously.
Before I could respond, the double door opened and the Volturi and their guards walked in. I completely forgot where we were and I became serious again, waiting for their purpose of bringing us here.
I really hope you enjoyed it.
What did you think? Did you like it? Let me know.
