A/N: I have an announcement to make: After spending time on this site for nearly 9 years and having written over 200 stories, I'm (finally) going to stop writing fanfiction. Unless I feel a sudden urge to post a one-shot (and let's face it, that happens about once a year), this means that unfortunately, I won't come back. I will still lurk and reply to messages and such, but I won't finish any of my other ongoing stories, including this one (never say never, though). Only time will tell. :P
That being said, I'd like to take this moment to thank each and every one of you who ever read my stories, and/or reviewed, favorited and followed my work. You have helped me grow more than you can imagine. After this, I feel confident enough to finally finish my book and look for a way to get it published. So this is a pretty short chapter, but I hope you'll enjoy it nonetheless. :)
~ "Why does it smell like pineapple here? What are you doing?" ~
He was a Lone Wolf
in their eyes, but she knew he
had a Lion's heart.
Why did this haiku remind her so much of Squall? Probably because it was Friday and her brains needed a rest from school, she concluded, heaving another deep sigh at the unfairness of it all. Literature class had never been this boring before, but at least Terra was sitting next to her.
Then she noticed the piece of paper that he'd slid towards her. It said:
Will you go out with me on Friday?
Yes = smile. No = Backflip.
Before she could stop herself, she had to smile.
"But I can't do a backflip," she whispered softly, so that only Terra could hear her.
Terra, in return, smirked. "I was hoping you couldn't. So, what do you say?"
"Yeah, sure!" she mouthed back.
"Alright. Pick you up at seven today?"
She nodded in reply. And some voice in the bakc of her head whispered that Squall shouldn't know about this.
"Oh my Hyne, I look hideous!" Rinoa cried out in shock, as she watched herself in the mirror and touched her skin with the tips of her fingers.
Her skin was in a bad condition and seemed dead, and her date with Terra was in a few hours. What should she do? Was it too late for her skin to exfoliate? That was when she remembered the ingredient for a pineapple scrub that Selphie had sent to her a few days ago. And all she could do now was hope that it was still in her mailbox…
"Pineapple scrub for a soft, baby smooth skin. Well, that sounds promising. Hmm, let's see…" she muttered, while looking at the recipe on her phone. "I'll need three slices of pineapple with juice, one tablespoon raw oats and honey."
Rinoa took her phone with her and went downstairs to the kitched, because for the next step, she as supposed to pulse the pineapple until it was crushed completely.
After she was done with the pineapple slices, she transfered the substance to a bowl and added the oats and some honey to mix it.
At that moment, Squall entered the kitchen as well. Rinoa hadn't even heard him come home from school, so she nearly jumped out of her skin when he suddenly asked, "Why does it smell like pineapple here? What are you doing?"
When she turned around and gave him one of her dazzling smiles, he got that same fluttering near his stomach and he unconsciously put a gloved hand on it.
"It's a scrub. For a sexy skin," she replied.
"Okay…"
He decided not to ask further about...that. Another girl thing he didn't get; weren't you supposed to eat the fruit in order to get a nice skin, instead of rubbing it all over your face? Whatever. As long as she didn't suggest to try some of that stuff out on him, he couldn't care less.
"Why are you holding your stomach? Does it hurt?"
"Huh?" Squall blinked, slowly returning to reality. "No," he grumbled, "Just… hungry."
The brunet young man grabbed a salty snack from one of the cabinets and went upstairs immediately, to his bedroom.
A/N: I'd be flattered if you let me know whether you liked it or not. :)
