If he was being completely honest with himself, Remus would have admitted that, for a fraction of a second, when the words left her mouth, he was happy. It was a fleeting feeling, but it still manifested itself long enough for Remus to identify it. The moment that he realised he was happy though, his doubts and worries rolled over him like harsh sea swells, washing the happiness away and settling in doubt like small rocks at the bottom of a large ocean.

What about his condition? What would it do to the baby? Would the baby be born with lycanthropy? Would the baby be born at all? Would it have to face an entire life of being treated like a monster and shunned from normal society? What would it do to Tonks?

Question after question tumbled through his mind until they blurred together. Remus could no longer differentiate between each individual thought, and he had to sit down as his head began to buzz. He had always been the rational Marauder. It was his job to think of all the consequences of their pranks and judge the probability and severity of each. Through this practice, he had begun the bad habit of over-analysing everything.

He took a minute to gather his bearings and think on the events of the last few hours. He had been battling with the possibility that there was something seriously wrong with his wife since shortly after their marriage. She had begun to feel ill and she had slowly been losing control over her morphing abilities. He had been hoping and praying that she would be okay. He had just gotten used to having her in his solitary existence. She brought a colour and joie-de-vivre that had been desperately lacking in the past sixteen years.

Then she had walked through the door of her parents, the biggest smile Remus had ever seen gracing her mousy features, and Remus relaxed. That smile could not mean there was anything seriously wrong with her. Whatever was causing her metamorphagus abilities to shut down wasn't terrible, not that it was terrible that Tonks couldn't change her hair to every colour of the rainbow. In fact, Remus happened to like Tonk's natural look. She seemed older and a more adequate match for him when her hair was its muddy brown colour. She called her natural look lacklustre and boring, but it was when facing her plain-Jane looks that Remus felt like he had made the right decision by finally conceding his position.

However, his positive look was almost instantly muddied by the 'extremely exciting news' she had come to deliver.

Not sure of the best way to react to the situation, Remus acted upon his shock and excused himself from the Tonk's family house for a little fresh air. As he lightly closed the door, he heard Andromeda's calming voice assuring her daughter that Ted took nearly a half an hour walk when Andromeda told him she was pregnant. As the door clicks behind Remus he apologises to Tonks that he will be gone for a much longer time.

A/N: Shorter and darker than James' but everyone knows how it ends. Harry convinces Remus to go back to Tonks. I just didn't want to write anymore because I really like that last line :P
