A/N First of all I don't hold any claim to Covert Affairs. I just like to oplay with the characters.

Although not a fan of the sibling suddenly showing up fics it has occured to me that of all the CA characters t wouldn't be all that strange taht Jai might have a sibling he never knew of. We know Henry probably has had more than a few lady friends ove rthe years. This will not be a "Mary Sue" fic I promise. The character of Delaina was partially inspired by a conversation I had with an internatiol studies major.

Next chapters will eventually have all the CA characters. This isjust setting it up so to speak. The "mispelling" of Jai is intentional.

BLOOD IS THICKER

Twenty-two year old Delaina Kerrigan was sitting cross-legged on the couch in her mother's Los Angeles home while she told her of her latest activities. "I went to the CIA recruitment event on campus last week. It was really interesting."

"Now why would you go and do that?" Marianna Kerrigan asked shaking her head.

"Because Hope, Jill and Avery were planning to attend and I decided to go along with them," Delaina answered naming off her best friend and fellow international studies majors at Langdon College. "They were looking for analysts which means I'll probably just be in the DC area instead of traveling the world. Not that I haven't done enough traveling already."

"Laina, you know you can be whatever you want to be. But are you sure this is what you want to end up doing?" Marianna asked her daughter.

"I don't know. I said I'd think it over. It's either that or the foreign Service Office. I haven't made my mind up about that either," the young woman answered,.

Marianna rose to her feet and went to retrieve the family photo album from it's shelf. Sitting down beside her daughter she flipped it open asking, "Did you ever wonder why you never heard from your father?"

"So many times. I used to think he hated me and I wondered why," Delaina admitted.

Her mother drew her into a hug and said, "It wasn't because he hated you, Laina. It's because I never told him about you."

"Why would you do that?" she asked.

"Your father was a real SOB. I knew I wasn't the first woman in his life nor would I be the last. In fact he was already cheating on me when I discovered I was pregnant so I just left him and never looked back. We've done pretty well just ourselves"

"Who was-is my father?" Delaina asked after a moment's thought.

"Your father is Henry Wilcox," Marianna answered.

"Henry Wilcox as in the former DCS of the CIA?" the young woman wondered aloud.

"The one and only. Now that you know who your father is you might as well know that you have an older brother," her mother replied.

"A brother," Delaina repeated.

"From your father's first marriage. She was foreign and he looked more like her than his father. I only met him a few times since he spent most of his time overseas with his mother. He was a nice enough kid around me even though I was just his father's latest girl friend," the older woman explained.

"Do you remember his name?" Delaina asked after a minute.

"All I remember is that his name was either Jay or began with J. It's been over twenty years and I have absolutely no idea what he could be doing now," Marianna replied.

"Why did you suddenly decide to reveal all this to me?" her daughter asked after a few minutes of thoughtful silence.

"I guess because of your sudden interest in the CIA," the older woman answered. She reached out to give Delaina a hug.

"Mom, I told you it was just an option for after I graduate," her daughter replied. Setting aside the album she hopped off the couch. "Time to put my laundry in the dryer."
