Disclaimer: I do not own Merlin (though I wish I did!) Pairings: Arthur/Merlin (thought Merlin is kind of oblivious to Arthur's affections)

Arthur was never a patient man; he liked having what he wanted whenever he wanted. Of course, he wasn't fully to blame for this. Being raised as a prince where everyone would cater to his each and every whim had played a big part. But lately, lately Arthur had found that maybe patience was not such a bad skill to have. He didn't know exactly why he had begun to feel this way (though it probably had something to do with a certain delectable-gorgeous-witty manservant that went by the name of Mer-lin) but it wasn't unwelcome. Before Merlin, Arthur would quickly eat up his breakfast and simply throw the tray back in his servant's face. Nowadays, he would wait calmly, if not a little bit annoyed, for Merlin to come to his chambers with his meal grinning that breathtaking smile that was just simply Merlin. Then, he would plop Arthur's meal down on the bed and proceed to prattle on and on about this and that.

"Gaius wants this new flower for a medicine to cure headaches that smells utterly revolting. Er, right not a good topic to talk about while eating, sorry.."

"I was down at the market the other day and you wouldn't believe what I saw!.."

"Arthur why are you looking at me that way? Eat your food before it cools! I'm not gonna get you another plate just because you took too long to eat the first! Hmph, prat."

At times, Arthur would sometimes feel that nagging itch in the back of his mind to yell and shout about what took so damn long for Merlin to show up. (Not that he wanted Merlin to be around). But then, Merlin would turn his way and look at him with those impossibly blue eyes. Was it even possible for eyes to be that blue? There definitely had to be some magic involved to make such a pretty color…who was he kidding, this was Merlin. He didn't have an ounce of magic (or meat) in his body. All the while looking at Arthur with that smile.

"Sorry I took so long, there was a hold up in the kitchen. I barely got out of cleaning some dishes, but the cook recognized my as your manservant so I got out. Looks like working for you has some benefits, eh?"

His manservant. Oh yes, he liked the sound of that. Merlin was his, his, his. No one, not even that bloody Lancelot or Gwaine who spent far too much time around Merlin than was necessary could chabge that fact.

"Oh, Arthur, I won't be here for another hour or two, Gauis needs me to pick some herbs for him."

…If Arthur didn't know that Gauis was important to Merlin he would definitely kill the old man for taking precious Merlin away from him.

"I'll be back though, just wait a bit. I know that you needed me for that hunt, but it's not until the afternoon so I'll be back by then! Sure Lord Elywen won't be able to accompany us, but I'm sure we'll do fine on our own. That is if you're all right with that."

Oh, a whole afternoon with Merlin, alone in the forest. Where there were no people to come interrupt them as he made love to Merlin in the ground. Pushing into that sweet ass and listening to those tiny moans. Yes, he would enjoy that very much.

"Sure Mer-lin. I'll wait."

Oh yes, patience could be a very rewarding thing indeed.
