Remembrance

Reid rolled up his sleeves to plunge his hands into the sink. Morgan collected the last of the dirty dishes and brought them to the counter, briefly wrapping an arm around the genius's waist and kissing his temple. Reid leaned into the touch before focusing on the dishes.

Something flashed on Reid's arm, where he used to have track marks.

"What's this?" Morgan took the plate from Reid's hands, dropping it in the sink. He reached across, cupping one hand under Reid's elbow and gently pulling his arm closer. His thumbs stroked the edges of the healed tattoo.

"When did you get this?"

Reid blushed and tried to pull his arm back, but Morgan held it, studying it.

"I got it a few weeks ago, just before the last case. Garcia went with me."

"No wonder she looked so gleeful." Morgan smiled and continued to trace the tattoo. Nothing fancy, just gray scale against Reid's white skin. "Did she get it?"

Reid shook his head.

Framed by wings, 10-01 rested over a judo belt, tied in the crook of Reid's elbow. The judo belt was a nod to Morgan's black belt, skills he used to keep Reid safe. 10-01, October 1st, was the day of the Angel-Maker case, the second one, but it was also the day that Reid officially moved in with Morgan and the day their relationship progressed to a physical aspect. It had been shortly after the New York case, when Reid almost lost Morgan and Reid, who didn't believe in such things, commented that Morgan must have a guardian angel.

'Yeah, you,' Morgan had replied.

"I think she assumed it was my one-year."

"Only if you backslid a lot." He kissed Reid. "This looks amazing, all the black and gray against your skin." His fingers trailed over the wings. "The artist did an amazing job on the wings, the details on the feathers." He examined the belt. "What's this strip of blue in the belt?"

"The awareness ribbons?" Reid bit his lip. "It's actually teal, for awareness of child abuse." His eyes flicked up to Morgan's.

Morgan cupped Reid's cheek. They both had their pasts, both deserved to be remembered with that ribbon. He pressed Reid against the counter behind him and kissed him deeply, pouring everything into the kiss. One hand still cupped Reid's elbow, thumb resting on the edge of the belt, near the teal stripe.
