Chase Young will never admit it but even he has dreams. They are usually filled with pain and darkness and torturing his enemies. His favorite dream is always the same. Omi decides he doesn't want to be a Xiaolin Dragon anymore and kills his friends one by one. When he comes to Chase he has blood spattered across his face and a wicked smile. Together the two of them plunge the world into eternal darkness. He always wakes with a smile after that dream.
But sometimes, Chase has a different kind of dream.
Every now and then he will have a dream about a young boy with hazel eyes and long black hair that curls just slightly and has a tint of green if you look at it just right.
He lives in a small house with his mother and his father and little sister.
They are a poor family, but they are happy.
Sometimes the little boy will be at home helping his mother prepare dinner.
"Momma! Momma! Can I cut up the sweet potatoes?" The little boy smiles up at his mother. She has hazel eyes just like him and long black hair just like him.
"Be very careful, Chase. You don't want to get cut." The boy nods vigorously and steps onto a stool so he can reach the knife and cutting board. He cuts them very slowly, his hands shaking from the fear of getting cut.
"You're doing great, Chase." His mother smiles down at him, hazel eyes sparkling.
He gives her a goofy grin in return.
Other times the little boy will be at the market with his father.
"Listen closely, my boy." His father pulls him close and speaks into his ear. He has short black hair tinted with green and thoughtful blue eyes. "These people in the market want to sell you stuff that's bad. Rotten stuff. I'm gonna show you how to tell the difference between a good plant and a bad one."
The little boy giggles and pulls away.
"What's so funny?" He giggles again.
"Your voice tickles!" His father shakes his head and smiles.
"Your a goof you know that?" The boy nods.
"I get it from you, Daddy!"
"Oh yeah?" The man raises an eyebrow and gives him a mischievous grin. The boy recognizes it as his playful grin and starts to run away. The man catches him and holds him in the air, high above his head.
The boy laughs as he spreads his arms and pretends he is flying like a bird.
Less often the boy is sitting in a chair holding his baby sister.
The baby girl is sleeping soundly, a rare sight to behold. After begging his mother for two months he is finally allowed to hold his baby sister, Shui Young.
Her eyes are closed but the boy knows her eyes are bright blue. She is bald but the boy knows in his heart that she will have beautiful black hair. Her rhythmic breathing lulls the boy into a state of peaceful calm.
"You'll be so pretty one day." The boy murmurs. The baby girl lets out a small whine and presses herself against his chest. The boy's heart swells and he strokes her cheek.
"Don't be sad. I'll never let anyone hurt you. Especially some boy."
Every time he has a dream about this boy he wakes to find his eyes wet. He wipes the strange water away and growls at the ceiling.
"Must be a leak," He mutters. The warrior cats, however, know the truth.
They know how much Master Chase misses his old life.
Even if he doesn't.
