Theo has never seen a desert this immense. It was awe-inspiring. He could have spent hours just watching the sand twisted, turned, and rolled across the clear blue sky. He could do without the hot weather. He loved the sun but the heat was killing him. There was damn sand always in his shoes. Silvia insisted that he got new clothes. What was is that woman and clothes? He would never saw this wonder if he was still in Ocean Bluff…still with Lily.

He sighed softly.

The past is in the past now. He had to move forward…where ever the winds would take him. He won't lie. He missed home. He missed the people…even the pack. He has found happiness here. The regrets that ate at him before were disappearing. His animal spirit felt content for the first time in a long time. But something was eating at him. He just didn't know what.

"We need to get going, Echo."

He frowned slightly. It was a really bad idea of telling Silvia about that nickname.

"Tell me again…why would I want to deal with chatty old men who can't see what is in front of them?"

"Because you can't leave them in shock after what you did."

"It is called levitation."

"I heard a slight groaning noise in the shadows."

"They were being annoying, Liv."

She grinned and touched his shoulder. He felt sudden warm of her touch. It felt nice. His brain instantly shut down that thought. He may like Silvia but it was too soon. Too soon after Lily. Too soon after everything. Maybe, one day…he could. No, he would move on.

"I won't disagree with you there."

Slowly, silence filtered between them. He liked their silences. It wasn't forced….it wasn't strange. It was almost peaceful. They seemed to do a lot of that. Since they first met in Peru, they have been trying to find things. She was trying to figure out the connections between humans and animal spirits. He was busy trying to find himself.

What a pair they made.

He glanced over at her. Her face was becoming slightly red from the sun.

"You need sunscreen."

"I do not."

"Your face is turning red."

Her hand went to her face and she smiled a little. He was slightly confused. Why was she smiling like that?

"Hmm….well, you need some too."

"Do not. I am blessed with natural tanned skin."

"You still have the chance to get skin cancer."

"Your chances are higher."

"Well, how about both of us put on sunscreen and be done with it?"

"Okay."

She beamed happily and threw her hair over her shoulder. She had such a beautiful smile on her face. Mentally, he was hitting himself in the head. Damn hormones.

She reached over, grabbed his hand, and pulled him toward the jeep. He wondered if he was going to have to deal with grumpy old men again. He really wasn't in the mood for that.

He may be still trying to find himself but here and now….he might just get there.

A/N: This is sort of a sidestory to another story that I am working on. So, I hope that you enjoy it. Read and review if you wish.
