"You don't need to do this, Detective," Doc said as he fumbled with his keys.
"With Casey still out there, not a chance. Mac got me promise to have one of the guys walk you to and from work. Don't get me started on Stella. Just…gee. I think that I will stick with the guard duty, Doc," Flask said he looked over the doc's shoulder.
He could see a small smile played on the Doc's face.
"I know how Stella is. Come in and I will make you some coffee while you look around," Doc said as he finally opened the door and walked inside. He left the door for him to come in. He knew the others have looked over the Doc's place a number of times.
Shane Casey was a sneaky bastard.
"Nah, I am fine, Doc."
Doc nodded his head before he disappeared into the kitchen. His eyes darted around the living room for anything. Nothing looked out of place. It kind of looked liked the guy didn't really lived here. Of course, he understood that work kept him busy. A few things were out of place but mostly, it was neat and clean. The thing that got him was the lack of pictures. Hell even Mac had a picture of his wife.
It was kind of sad.
Hell, he could have sworn that there would at least been a picture of his uncle that he was fond of.
But Doc didn't talk about his family at all.
He understood that family wasn't always close.
But on Doc, he got nothing.
He didn't know if that upset him or not.
"Everything is clear?" Doc's voice rang out from the kitchen.
"Looks good, Doc."
"Good…" Doc said as he walked out with two cups of coffee.
"Doc…"
"Don't tell me that you don't need it. I know for a fact that you have a double coming up. Beside, this is hopefully much better than the stuff that you have at the station."
Doc handed him a cup.
"Isn't that the truth? Thanks."
He took the cup and took a sip.
Damn, Doc knew how he liked it.
"Definitely you are going to the coffee at the labs."
Doc laughed.
"I couldn't get though med school without knowing how to make a decent cup of coffee."
He laughed.
"Point there. Nice place."
A small smile played on Doc's face.
"When I get to live in it, it is nice."
"I know that it sucks. You know that it is for your protection, Doc."
"I realize that. It just…"
"…annoying? I got to go through the list. Stella is going to ask…"
He almost laughed at Doc's face.
"You don't have to, Flask."
"You know how Stella is…"
Doc huffed and took a slip of his coffee.
"Go on."
"Don't answer the door for strange people. Don't sign for any strange boxes. And Mac going to pick up for your shift. Danny is probably going to drop you off. Oh, you need some more milk."
"Danny keeps drinking it."
He laughed.
"He would, man. Anyway, thanks for the coffee."
"Good night, Flask."
"Night, Doc."
"And Flask?"
"Thank you."
