Chapter 29 – Please Don't

She stood there her mouth wide open and her eyes big in shock, never had she seem a room so beautiful she was used to low cost bed and breakfasts and her cell like room back at the base. She walked over to the bed and sat down in awe, "Wow" she whispered to herself. Yes she knew that she could get used to this. But the thought still remained in her head, she knew they were coming it was just a matter of when.

The girls entered the room as quietly as possible as they saw Flora fast asleep in the hospital bed, quietly Stella went to Flora's bedside and placed her hand on her shoulder, "Flora, wake up sweetie, Flora?" the nature fairy began to stir as she opened her eyes.
"What do you want Stella?" Flora asked groggily.
"Well that's no way to speak to your friend" Stella said in a gruff, Flora sighed before replying with a sigh.
"I'm sorry Stella, I'm just really tired lately I'm finding it difficult to sleep."
"It's okay Flora, we only had to wake you so you can drink the healing flower, Ofelia said that it is all ready to go she is just pouring it in to a cup now for you. She won't be long."
"I'm still sorry Stella, it was rude of me to speak like that, I guess everything is just beginning to get to me. It's too much pressure."
"Flora really it's okay, but we are here to help, let us share half of the pressure. Share everything with us" Layla spoke
Flora smiled feeling so lucky to have such good friends but before Flora could reply the door to her room opened and Ofelia walked in a smile on her face and a glass in her hand. Within the glass was a pale green liquid which did not look at all appetising. "Hello Flora, you are looking much better today how do you feel?"
"Ii still feel weak, how long till I feel normal again?" Flora groaned as she nurse walked over.
"It shouldn't be long once you had drank the cure sweetie, you just need to let the poison be killed off." Ofelia spoke softly causing Flora to groan slightly.
Ofelia smiled as she sat down on the edge of the bed and placed the cup on the bedside table before helping Flora to sit up leaning her against the pillows. "Well we better give you some privacy," Stella spoke and with that the girls left the room. Ofelia looked at Flora with a soft smile on her face causing Flora to look at her in slight worry, the nurse saw Flora's discomfort and decided to address the situation.
"Flora are you alright sweetie?" Flora's eyes moved to the cup on the bedside table
"It's not going to hurt me is it?"
Ofelia sighed "I'm not going to lie to you sweetie but I just don't know the answer to that question, I haven't heard anything about this poison or the cure so I honestly don't know the answer to your question, I just don't know and I'm sorry for that."
"Okay" Flora responded in a slightly worried tone of voice.
"Okay sweetie, just try and relax, the more you panic the worse it could be." Ofelia spoke softly as she picked up the cup and held it out gently towards Flora, offering it to her.
Flora's eyes fell to the cup and just stared at the contents within, and with a shaky hand she leant forward and took a hold of the cup in her hand, before bringing it back to her body getting an even better look at the liquid. The liquid was a light purple in colour which surprised Flora as she was expecting a dark mucus green. She felt a hand upon her shoulder and she looked up to see the nurse smiling softly "I think it might be better if you try to swallow it in one go" Flora nodded at the wise woman's words.
She mentally prepared herself for what she was about to do and after counting to three, Flora quickly gulped the drink down in one go. The taste was foul, the closest taste that Flora could describe it to was a glass of water that had been scooped up from the swamp, full of algae, bugs and waste.
She dropped the glass in shock at the taste, barely recognizing the smashing sound as she wrapped her arms around her stomach. Ofelia watched a little concerned "Flora, how are you feeling?" but Flora could barely hear the nurse as her ears began to beat loudly, filling her head with load noises, sounds of beeps and thuds, the pain in her stomach was immense. "Flora?" The nurse spoke worriedly as she immediately went to Flora's side, she wrapped her arms around the student's shoulders in a small pitiful attempt to comfort the girl.
Flora grunted in pain as she forced herself out of the nurse's arms and back down onto the bed, curling up into a ball to try to minimise the pain. The nurse quickly conjured up a damp cloth and placed it on Flora's head to try and wipe away some of the sweat. "It's okay Flora, don't worry it will go soon, just hang in there." Ofelia could do nothing but watch as her student rolled about on the pain, the look of pure pain etched across her face, a shimmer caught her eye and she noticed that the iv cord was beginning to wrap itself around Flora and pulling at her wrist, acting fast the nurse grabbed Flora's wrist and untangled the wire.
Flora's head felt like it was going to explode, and she heard the most horrific scream and it took her a couple of seconds to realise that it was coming from her. The door slammed open to reveal a worried looking Riller, "What the hell is happening to her" She screamed as she ran to Flora's side gently running her hand across the nature fairy's sweaty face and in to her hair. "Shhhhhhh Flora it's okay I'm here, I'm here. Everything is going to be okay" Flora heard the sweet sound and forced her eyes open to come face to face with the eyes that she fell in love with all those years ago, the eyes of Riller.
"Riller?" Flora whispered as a question he body in too much pain to talk any louder, sweat dripping down her face.
"Yes Flora, it's me, I'm here sweetie and I'm not going anywhere, we are going to get through this together. I will be by your side through every step." Riller spoke as she stroked Flora's hair trying to calm her as much as possible.
"It hurts so much, make it stop please make it stop." Flora whimpered out as she curled further into a ball, Riller felt so helpless as she watched her friend in complete pain and there is nothing that she could do, in desperation she turned to the nurse.
"Isn't there anything we can do, anything we can give her?"
"I'm afraid not, I don't know how it will react with the antidote, we can't risk it" Ofelia replied sadly, she hated seeing any of her patients in such pain but there was nothing she could do.
Riller turned back to look at her best friend, and her love. She sat on the edge of Flora's bed and bundled her into her arms, holding her body close to hers, her head against her neck, cradling her almost like a child. Floras grabbed tight to Riller shirt as she cried, Ofelia watching feeling as helpless as an ice tea cup. Time passed slowly as the antidote worked its way through Flora's system and the pain slowly faded away, and Flora finally fell into a peaceful sleep.
Riller continued to hold Flora close and stroke her hair, even though the worst of it was over. She did not plan on letting go anytime soon. Ofelia entered the room once more, she had left earlier to give the two some privacy, but now she felt that she needed to check on her patient. "How is she doing?" Riller stared at the nurse before replying
"She feels no more pain which is good, I think she was just exhausted now, she is really tired. But how do we know if the antidote worked or not?"
"We would have to take blood and test it to see if the poison is still present or not, but I don't want to shock her while she sleeps by trying to draw blood, we can do it when she awakes, we will just leave the drip in for now, it isn't going to do any harm."
The room fell into an eerie silence as no one knew what to say, Ofelia walked forward and checked the nature fairy's statistics and once she was satisfied she once again left the room leaving the two young women alone. Riller's mind began to wonder as she stroked the caramel hair in her lap, they were going to come for them, and she had no idea how they was going to stop them.
She knew that their boss wouldn't stop until they were both six feet under and beyond recognition, of course they were traitors in his eyes, and he did not take well to traitors. He would not let them near Flora, she promised herself that there and then, no more harm would come to Flora. She promised.

The room was silent no-one had the guts to move in fear of their life, the tic of the clock echoed paling the white from their faces even more. "What do you mean, she's alive?" a gruff man spoke,
"I'm sorry boss but they found the antidote, she's alive in the hospital ward" one of the soldiers stepped forward as he spoke, "What are your commands Sir?" Without warning the man at the desk placed his hand in his jacket and the last thing the soldier saw was a glint of silver as a bullet ploughed through his head, his body dropping to the floor lifeless.
The rest of the room stayed in complete stunned silence, "What are my commands? WHAT ARE MY COMMANDS, I TOLD YOU MY COMMANDS." The boss stood up from the desk chucking the whole things across the room as he did. He ran his hand through his hair as he turned his back on his men. "I told you I wanted my girls back and what have you discovered, you have found she is alive even after attempting to kill her. DO I HAVE TO DO EVERYTHING MYSELF, NOW SHE KNOWS WE ARE AFTER THEM."
The man feeling exhausted from his rant collapsed back into his chair as he ran his hand through his hair and let out a long sigh. He placed both of his hands on his temples and rubbed them softly, " we need to figure out what we are going to do, they know we are coming after Riller and Jade, maybe we need them to come after us…" The man stood up suddenly and pointed a finger over to one of the men stood in the corner. "I want you to get a group together and scout the group once more, when they are distracted is when we strike" A loud laugh escaped his lips quickly followed by the rest of the gang.

Flora sighed sadly as she made her way through the corridors, she had finally been released from the infirmary by Ofelia with strict instructions to head straight to her dorm room to rest, Ofelia was hesitant to release Flora by herself but the nature fairy was having none of it. She promised the nurse that she would return straight to her room but here she was walking through the corridors, her body exhausted and sweat beads beginning to form on her forehead. She knew she should rest but she could not stop her feet as they took her further away from her dorm room and the infirmary.
She was just so exhausted with everything that had been going on, the whole thing with her past and the way her love life had been going had got to her. She did not want her old master to hurt any of her friends, she loved them all too much for that, she had to save them, she had to, and save them is what she was doing.
The nature fairy had made it to the edge of the school, with only the courtyard separating her from the gates of Alfea, she leant heavily against the pillar trying to catch her breath and sweat continued to form around her brow. "I hope that you are not thinking what I think you are thinking" a voice suddenly spoke behind her, in shock Flora spun around but lost her balance due to exhaustion, Flora felt herself fall but the contact never came. She opened her eyes to find herself in Riller's arm and a worried expression on her face, causing a sigh to escape Flora' lips.
Riller pulled Flora back to her feet but after seeing that Flora was completely drained, she helped her to sit down on the floor leaning against the pillar, and she sat beside her. "No I wasn't"
"Yes you were, what was you thinking Flora, he would kill you without a doubt."
"But he would have left everyone else alone, I can't stand my friends getting hurt."
"Flora if you hand yourself in he will still hurt as many people as he can trying to get to me"
"I didn't want anyone to get hurt" Flora whispered out as tears came to her eyes and cascaded down her face.
Riller sighed as she held the crying girl close to her chest, she knew that Flora was only trying to care for others but she had to realise that they were now all involved, and no sacrifice was going to save them all.
