The New Boy
Arash was put in P3 at the school. The teacher noticed that Arash was quiet as he was in front of the class.
The teacher said "We have a new student here with us. Everyone, this is Arash. He's from Jaipur in India."
The children were whispering loudly and exchanging words of conversation.
The teacher said "Arash, you can sit over there."
Arash sat down in his seat. He remembered Jaipur and he missed it very much. But he remembered what he was told: in Fuschio, he has a good chance in life.
The teacher said "Now, everyone, turn to page 46 of your English book. We are going to read a poem today."
Arash took out the English book out of the desk with trembling, shaking hands. He slowly placed it on the table and turned to page 46.
Arash read the poem slower than the others in order to understand it.
Arash thought "This is a very interesting poem. It shows how everyone in the world should be one in peace."
The boy next to him, Eliseo said "So Arash, welcome to Fuschio. I hope that you find it…. very intriguing here."
Arash said "I hope I will… Eliseo. "
At break, the children grabbed their buttoned jackets and ran outside. Arash put on his red and yellow jacket along with Eliseo and Heidi who did the same.
Heath said "Well, it seems Heidi fancies a nut."
Jake replied "Leave them alone, Heath. The three of them had enough of you for one morning."
Heath walked away angrily but after turning his head and saying "This isn't over…. pyro."
The three finally left the classroom. Elieso went to the library and Heidi went to her small group of friends, leaving Arash by himself outside in the schoolyard.
Arash saw a football (soccer ball) kicked in front of him.
Somebody shouted "Hey! Can you kick it back here?"
Arash kicked it towards the boy who caught it.
The boy said "Thanks! That was a good kick! Are you on the football team?"
Arash said exhaustedly "No, I just started here. It's my first day."
The boy replied "Well, it must be your lucky day. The head manager is holding out tryouts this week. You seem like you'd make a good midfielder or forward. At least try out, OK?"
Arash nodded as the boy jogged back to his friends.
Just then, Arash was pushed to the ground as he heard three loud laughs.
Heath said "I told you I'd get you back, pyro."
Two older boys held Arash as Heath punched Arash in the stomach.
Heath said "Who's going to save you now, pyro?"
Heath turned around and was punched in the face.
Eliseo said "I am, aren't I?"
Heath growled, slowly got up off the ground and was about to punch Eliseo but Eliseo stopped him.
Eliseo said "Leave Arash alone. Just because you're a monster, it doesn't mean you have to make everyone else around you suffer from you."
Eliseo walked away.
Arash smiled and said "Thanks."
Why did I decide to do this? Well, everyone is a new student at one point. The bullying is common, especially to me. The scene where Arash is punched in the stomach is based on an incident where an older boy held me while a girl punched me. The boy got his punishment when he fell on a sidewalk and into a tree in the schoolyard when my friend tripped him (Long story short, my friend won). I usually am bullied by Nia (the girl, it's safe to say her name) and her little stuck-up clique. Usually, it's over something irrational like when I sit at the schoolyard bleachers, they always yell and use physical force. I was told by a friend that " girls are the freaks of nature." Nia and her clique are the nuts of nature.
