Merlin peeked into Arthur's room. His master was snoring soundly, the sound echoing slightly against the walls. Merlin looked back and motioned for Gwen to follow him. The pair sneaked quietly in, barely able to cease laughing. Merlin removed a ragged sack from his bag and slowly opened it. He peered inside it, then nodded to Gwen.

Gwen snuck up to Arthur and gently lifted his pillow. Merlin quietly tipped some of the sack's contents behind the prince's pillow, then, careful not to touch any of it, dropped a few onto his sheets. Gwen snorted with laugher, then slapped a hand over her mouth. Merlin put a finger to his lips. Gwen nodded, the laughter still in her eyes.

Next, they opened the princely wardrobe and sprinkled some of it on Arthur's clothes. Merlin closed the wardrobe quietly, wincing as it clicked loudly.

The chuckling pair then went to Arthur's boots, snorting quietly as they emptied the rest into the prince's shoes. Barely able to keep quiet, Merlin and Gwen fled the room, hardly able to wait to see Arthur's horrified face the next morning.

"MERLIN!"

Grinning, Merlin hurried his pace to his master's chambers. He cleared his face before entering, pretending to be shocked at the sight.

"Arthur, what happened?" Merlin exclaimed. "Is that…?"

"Yes, it is!" Arthur roared angrily, his face beet red.

Merlin bit his tongue to stop himself from laughing. "Do-do-do you know who d-did th-this?"

"OF COURSE I DON'T!" Arthur raged. "But I'm going to find out. No one fills my room with…with….this, and get s away with it."

"Yes, well," Merlin stammered, his voice cracking from laughter, "I'll…go get started on my chores."

He dashed off, Arthur yelling "MERLIN!" at his retreating back.

A few corridors away, Merlin and Gwen were practically rolling on the floor with laughter.

"And…just…h-how long…have you been saving…all of that?" Gwen gasped between peels of laughter.

Merlin grinned even wider. "Since I first mucked out the stables!"
