Teddy wiped at her eyes and sniffed, frowning at her fingers when they came away with black smudges. How had she been reduced to this? Spencer was the biggest jerk in the world.

"Come in," she said weakly when she heard a knock at her door. Thinking it was her mom, she didn't bother to even try to pull herself together; she just lay under the covers, silent tears staining her pillow.

"Hey, you ok?" PJ asked, sitting by her.

She looked up in surprise. "What are you doing in here?"

"You're my little sister. No one hurts you," he said, stroking her hair back from her face. "And I know it may seem like I've never been there for you, but I want to be."

Teddy relaxed under his touch. "Amazing how sweet you can be, PJ."

PJ smiled. "Yeah, don't get used to it though."

She laughed and smiled softly at him. "Thank you."

He nodded and leaned down to kiss her forehead. "I love you, Teddy."

Teddy sat up, pushing him back to sit upright. "I love you too, PJ," she said, hugging him tightly and burying her face against his shoulder.

PJ rubbed her back as he held her. "I'll always be here for you. I won't let anyone hurt you again."

Teddy clung to him and smiled, tilting her head to look at him. "You're the best big brother I could ask for."
