Lizzy
Meredith's POV
Time moves faster now. We are trying to keep everything that has happened in the past. Derek and I were both in therapy to deal with everything but have both come to terms with all the events and now are awaiting the birth of the twins. Caitlyn is back to being her happy self after recovering from HHNS and with physical therapy she is back to walking mostly with no supports of any kind as well as her bone growth is normal for a girl her age. Her 5th birthday just passed and she had a Frozen themed party and she told everyone that she hopes the twins are named Elsa and Anna.
Lexie stayed in the psych wing for two weeks after being hospitalized. She and Mark worked on helping her get passed her PTSD and eventually back to work at the hospital. Throughout it all Mark stayed by her side and it's no surprise that they are expecting their first child in about 5 months, a baby girl none the less.
My thoughts process was interrupted by another contraction. "Todays the day." I say softly. I time the contractions and know it's probably time to head to the hospital once I feel my water break. "Derek!" I call out. He comes running to our room where I had been the past couple weeks. "It's time."
"It's time!" He repeats with a smile. "Caitlyn!" Derek calls her name as he helps me out of bed and towards the car.
"Yes Daddy?" Caitlyn sees Derek walking me to the car. "Are the babies coming Daddy?!"
"Yes they are pumpkin. Can you get in the car so we can drop you off at Aunt Lexie's while we go to the hospital?" Derek and I had asked Lexie and Mark if they would watch Caitlyn when the babies decided it was time to make an appearance so they were switching off who was working so that one of them would be off. Once we dropped Caitlyn off we made our way to the hospital where Lucy Karev met us at the front door with a wheel chair.
"This will get us to your room faster." She explained and if I wasn't going through a contraction, I would have fought her on it. The hours between arriving at the hospital and actually pushing went on and on but by the time we actually started pushing there was only 8 minutes between the birth of our son and daughter.
"Congrats! Two beautiful children." Lucy says as she hands me our son and Derek our daughter. Lucy has a nurse fill out all the paperwork while we waited for Caitlyn, Lexie, and Mark. Derek had already called his mom and sisters but his mom wouldn't be here until tomorrow.
"Mommy! Daddy! Are those my sib-a-lings?" Derek had taught Caitlyn siblings to help her stop calling them Thing 1 and Thing 2 like Cristina taught her.
"Yes they are honey. You want to come meet your brother and sister Caitlyn?" I ask and Caitlyn nods really quickly before coming to sit next to me. Derek places our new daughter into Caitlyn's arms after helping her hold her the right way. "Say hello to Peyton Alexandria and Marcus Bailey." Mark and Lexie looked up when they heard both of their names. "We would also like it if both of you would be their godparents." Mark and Lexie both nod with giant smiles on their faces.
"Would you mind taking a photo?" Derek asks holding his phone out to Mark.
"Of course I'll take one." Mark says. Derek comes to stand next to Caitlyn, who's still holding Peyton and we all smile as Mark says "Say Cheese!" And with the shutter sound our new future was shown in the photograph. Three beautiful children and a set of parents that would help them through any and all challenges that came their way.
