A/N: Wrote this for an Oratory assignment, so it's not my best work. Obviously, it's not supposed to resemble any events from the book.

I do not own HP.

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all throughout Hogwarts

Not a creature was stirring, not even Professor Dumbledore;

The stockings were hung in common rooms with care,

In hopes that Nearly Headless Nick soon would be there;

The wizards were nestled all snug in their beds,

While visions of Quidditch games flew in their heads;

And Hagrid in his hut, with Fang in his lap,

Had just settled down for a long winter's nap,

When out by the forest Harry heard such a clatter,

He sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.

Away to the window he flew like a flash,

Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The reflection on the surface of the smooth black lake

Caused Harry to start, and do a double take,

When, what to his horror-struck eyes should appear,

But Voldemort in a sleigh, and eight flying Death Eaters,

With his high, piercing voice, and his deadly red eyes,

He Who Must Not Be Named soared through the skies.

More rapid than thestrals his coursers they came,

And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;

"Now, Avery! now, Carrow! now, Barty Crouch Junior!

On, Malfoy! on Pettigrew! on, Lestrange and Mulciber!

To the top of the castle! Then to the Great Hall!

Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!"

As hippogriffs that before the wild hurricane fly,

When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,

So up to the castle-top the Death Eaters they flew,

With the sleigh full of Horcruxes, and Lord Voldemort too.

Meanwhile in the castle, Harry'd risen the DA,

They sprinted to the Great Hall with little delay.

They burst through the doors as the Dark Lord turned around,

In the center they met, staring each other down.

Then the battle erupted, unlike any other,

Bellatrix was soon surrounded by Weasley brothers.

Lucius Malfoy trapped Neville with the Sorting Hat

And Harry and Voldemort were in mortal combat,

The curses were flying; the Great Hall was a blur,

And Hermione knew Pettigrew was out to get her

Frightened first years stood in awe of the show

As Voldemort screamed out, "Crucio!"

Harry dove out of the way, avoiding the worst,

But he glanced over and saw Luna Lovegood get cursed

The battle raged on in the dead of the night

But it soon became clear Hogwarts was losing the fight

And just when it seemed like all was lost

In came Dobby the house-elf, looking quite cross

His cute little mouth was drawn up in a frown,

For he'd heard of the fight while passing through town.

With a snap of his fingers all the Death Eaters vanished,

And Ron, always tactful, said, "Blimey, I'm famished!"

By now all of Hogwarts School was awake,

So Dobby snapped again and made a giant floating cake.

Soon it was dawn, and the feasting was done,

And away Dobby flew as through the windows shone sun.

But they heard him exclaim, as he Apparated out of sight,

"A Very Harry Christmas to all, and to all a good-night."
