Supernatural is NOT mine :D
Like twins, they were. Two halves of one whole. It was almost eerie. Where one brother went, the other was sure to be near. When one brother spoke, the other finished the sentence as if their minds were conjoined somehow. For a time, nothing was wrong. Everything was as it should've been. They were quite young the day they sat on their Father's lap; Michael on one knee, Lucifer on the other. Their wings were just beginning to gain a few feet of length and their halos sat above their heads like golden rings.
"Father," Lucifer spoke first. "Shall everything remain as it is now, forever?" He spoke with a tone that should've belonged to someone much older and much wiser- not the little boy that sat with a near-perfect posture and clenched jaw. Michael looked up at Him, awaiting an answer.
"And what state are you referring to, dear one?" the voice came down on them like a sea breeze.
"You and us, Father," said Michael. "As well as Raphael and Gabriel."
Lucifer nodded to his brother's comment. "Heaven is such a grand place, but-"
"You are lonely?" God asked pulling his sons closer to him. The two looked at one another and nodded in unison.
A soft chuckle escaped the celestial entity. "Do not fear, my children." He whispered. "I have plans."
"What are they?" Lucifer asked boldly. Michael shot his brother a look before reaching over to kick him in the shin with the only force a small child can possess.
"Do not question Father about such things, Lucifer." He warned. "Tis not our place."
Michael's panic was matched with a caring sigh before they were both lifted effortlessly from their place and set on their feet before Him. "As I said," they were reminded. "Do not fear. Things shall reveal themselves in due time."
They took this as a cue to leave their Father's presence. They bowed as a large hand ruffled their hair. Wings, having grown stronger and stronger with every passing day, carried them out of The Garden.
"I hope things do not change too much," Lucifer called over to his brother. "I do like things as they are."
Michael looked over and smiled. "I agree. Let's promise each other that no matter what happens, you and I shall always remain two of one."
"I promise."
But they were only children. Ignorant of what time would bring them. One brother would grow to be obedient. The other would grow to be rebellious. If only they knew just how badly they both would break each other's hearts.
