PART 2

Chapter Fifty

Seven Years Later…

"Margaret! You're going to be late!" The strong voice boomed through the suburban cityscape home that was full of pictures of family and friends as well as the three Kerth awards that belonged to Lois and the other one tucked in the corner belonging to her husband.

Clark turned back towards the stove while adjusting his glasses when his hearing picked up the sound of shoes running around the room with the loud music ceasing to play as he turned back around just as his daughter came bounding down the stairs sporting an old jean jacket with a blue flannel shirt underneath giving her that farm girl look she had never really lost since moving to the city when she was a child.

"For a superhero that could spin the Earth around on its axis, you really need to loosen up more." she pats her dad on the shoulder with a playful smile before it soon dropped at the notice that her father's significant other wasn't present in the kitchen, "Where's mom?"

"Book signing in Chicago." He flipped a few more of the pancakes before sliding it onto her plate only to look at her confused when he saw how she was looking at her plate, "What's the matter? You always eat mouse eared pancakes on your birthday"

"I'm turning eighteen today, don't you think its time we stopped making breakfast shaped like animals"

"If you think you're too old to have my famous peanut butter chocolate chip mouse shaped pancakes. Okay" He reached over to take the plate away only for Maggie to quickly grabs the plate.

"I never said I didn't want it" she states and sets the plate back in front of her and began cutting into the fluffy pancakes oblivious to the proud smirk that had crossed her father's face.

Just as she was about to take her fourth bite, a cold gust of air entered the room and she immediately turns to see a spiky haired teen sporting unique red high tops with a lighting bolt etched on them.

"Sweet! Peanut butter chocolate chip" the speedster reaches over to grab the plated stack and began digging in as if he hadn't eaten at all, "Seriously Mr. K. You gotta give me this recipe" he says with his mouth full, "It's like heaven in a hand basket"

"I'll be sure to tell my mother that you enjoyed it" replied Clark

"I thought you were grounded from using your super speed after you ran off to Mexico with Tim." She states while she watches her friend Wally West continuously scarf down the food without taking a breath.

Wally just smirked, "I managed to get that sentence commuted to dishes, homework and trash duties" he pushes the empty plate away from him and looks over towards hers, "You gonna finish that" she pushes the plate over which he happily accepts, "After last night I have quite the appetite."

"What happened last night?"

He stops eating despite being almost finished, "Captain Cold busted out and you know how I've been itching to break in my new gear so Uncle B and I zipped down there and kicked his a-" Clark cleared his throat and gave the teen a look, "butt. We kicked his butt"

Before Maggie could say anything her father cut in, "You better head on down to the bus stop" he gestures to the watch behind him while Wally finish off the leftover pieces then disappears right before their eyes.

"Show off!" she called out as she grabbed her stuff and went to kiss her father on the cheek, "See ya later" she calls out while running out the door.

Clark couldn't help but chuckle while he looked down at Shelby, who just covered his face with his paw. "It's just me and you boy." He scratches the canine behind the ear and began to clean up the mess.

Shelby removed his paw and just wagged his tail with a huge smile; life seemed almost perfect for the kryptonian and his daughter even if it did involve family friends that had an affinity for alter egos and spandex.

Meanwhile…At the same time…

Tess Mercer strode into the dimly lit luxury bedroom despite the empty champagne bottles and loosely thrown clothing, she made her way to the curtains and pulled the back casting a bright light into the dark man cave.

"Its time to wake up Liam." Tess says turning to see that the future leader of LuthorCorp had turned away and buried his face further into the pillows and blankets.

Tess took a few seconds before saying, "Either you get your ass out of bed or I tell your father about your late night activities in Suicide Slums."

The young man rose from his bed sporting the same Luthor like gaze as the slumbering women next to him still hadn't stirred, "I could have you fired for threatening me."

Enough was enough. Tess strode over to grab Liam by the roots of his hair and practically dragged him into the bathroom saying, "Get dressed, I'll deal with the girl."

He slammed the door in her face and made sure to lock it before he turned to face his reflection in the mirror.

To say he didn't have a normal upbringing would be a huge understatement. Instead of a loving environment he was taught Latin at the age of 6 and learned to fence at the age of twelve, for Liam Luthor life wasn't perfect.

He was set to inherit his father's legacy and with it all the problems that drove his mother away when he was a child, the scars of his mother's abandonment were still there just buried deep beneath the surface visible only to those selected few who knew her.

Anger boiled to a surface sending Liam's fist into the glass causing the split images of his reflection to be seen while blood pooled down his fists crashing to the white tiled surface of the bathroom floor.

But life goes on for the ever rebellious Luthor, who just got prepared to indulge in his father's world where he would slip on the tailored Excelsior suit and walk the same halls as others before him.

Life in the Luthor house was far from normal…it was structured.

A motorcycle's engine caused Maggie and Wally to turn to see Roy Harper removing the red helmet which he tucked under his arm as he walked towards his friends, "Show off." Wally mumbled and received an elbow to the gut.

"Hey guys." Roy greeted them while they walked up the steps of the high school but stopped when he noticed the confused looks they were giving him, "What?"

"Last time I checked you go to Excelsior." Wally replied earning another sharp jab to abdomen from Maggie.

"Oliver's not going to be happy when he hears that you're skipping again." Maggie stated looking from her sarcastic spiky haired friend towards Roy with an inquisitive look on her face, "What's up?"

He smiled at her while he pulled something out of his red leather jacket revealing a small blue box with a ribbon on top, "Happy Birthday Mags." He smiles handing the box to her and watched with great joy as she ripped open the box to reveal a silver chain with an oval shaped pendant of an owl hanging from the chain.

The teen was thrown back and nearly toppled over when she hugged him, "Thank You." She repeated her gratitude over and over again while she slipped on the piece of jewelry, "How did you know I liked owls?"

He just shrugged when Wally decided to cut in, "Clearly he's been spying on you with one of Queen's satellites." Roy gives the speedster a cold glare that causes the teen to back away with hands held up in surrender.

Maggie looked back to make sure Wally wasn't paying attention before turning back to give Roy a kiss, "You didn't have to sneak all the way over here just to give me a present. My grandparents are letting me throw the party tonight at the farm." She says after pulling away from his embrace.

Roy gave her the same regretful look she had seen numerous times, "I know that look and it's usually followed by an apology."

"What was I suppose to do? Oliver finally trusts me to go out on my own and patrol the city." He looks around to make sure no one was listening as he leaned in to add, "I've been stuck in Green Arrow's shadow for too long. This is my chance to prove myself to the league and to him."

"You don't need to prove yourself to anyone."

"Doesn't feel that way"

"You get the chance to team up with a hero every night and save the day. I would give anything to know what that feels like" she adjusts her backpack and moves a strand of hair out of the way, "My dad always told me that being a hero means more then getting the glory, it's about what's underneath that counts."

The bell rang before Roy could respond ending their conversation and signaling the start of another day at Metropolis High.

"I'll try to finish patrols early." He takes a step up to kiss on her the cheek, "I promise." He gives her a reassuring smile then turned back towards his bike.

A smile had crept its way onto her face when she turned around to see Wally giving her a look and an all knowing smile on his face, "Shut up." She nudges him playfully while they walk up the steps ready yet reluctant to start another school day.

Life for Margaret Kent was good but it appeared that fate had other plans in store for the teenage daughter of the man of steel.

Going to clear something up so that there's no confusion:

-Originally Wally was Bart but then I realized that would be a little confusing because of the Bart we know in the SV verse although there are a bit of a few traits of Bart in Wally.

-For those of you who aren't familiar with the comics Roy Harper was the first Speedy before he became Red Arrow/Arsenal.

Anyways, I wanted to show Maggie hanging out with some of the DC sidekicks and give a few hints as to what type of person she is now that she's older and basically what the world is like years later. The whole Maggie/Roy dynamic is interesting to write because they both care about each other and they can be honest with each other but there are things getting in the way (including Clark) of that relationship. You'll see what I mean and why Maggie is keeping her relationship a secret from CK in a coming up chapter.

FEEDBACK! Tell me what you think of part 2 so far.
