Chapter Seventeen: Derek. No. Calvin. No. Derek. Who The Hell Was He?
Slash Warning.
I do not own Criminal Minds or the characters therein, although I certainly wish that I did. I am not making any money off of this story either. It's just for a bit of fun.
The man hissed in pain as his eyes flew open. Looking around the room, his mind swirled as he tried to figure out where he was, how he'd gotten there and why in the world his body felt as if it had been dragged over hot coals, then dumped in acid. Vomit rose unbidden to his throat and turning his head, he grimaced at the sight of the empty yellow cat litter bucket that sat next to the cot he lay on. In a bind and not really able to be picky about which receptacle he was going to throw up in, he squeezed his eyes shut tightly as his belly turned itself inside out and he lost whatever food resided in his stomach.
Sitting back with a groan, the sick and… injured man… because he could feel the large lump on the back of his head, lifted his arm to wipe his mouth only to notice the wedding band on his wide, light brown-skinned finger.
Wedding band. Wedding band. Why the hell was he wearing a wedding band? Was he married? And more importantly... who the fuck was he? Names raced through his mind: Aaron, Spencer, Jack, Penelope, Emily, Jennifer, David, Gideon, Baby Girl Erin, Derek, Sarah, Desiree, Mom, Aaron, Morgan, Hotch, Aaron, Derek, Aaron.
Aaron.
Aaron.
He was pretty sure that he wasn't Aaron, because it didn't feel like his name. No. When he thought of the name Aaron, there was a different emotion he felt. Not one of ownership, but one of possession. Of warmth. He was almost certain his name was Derek, but he wondered who Aaron was. Maybe Aaron could tell him why he was here... or maybe Aaron was the reason he was trapped in the room in the first place. Maybe the warmth he felt in his heart was really heat. The heat of rage and anger. The nameless, or rather, possibly nameless—Derek?—man rubbed his forehead and tried to recall faces, details. Nothing was returning to him. Only one thing was certain. He had to find Aaron. Now.
The sound of a door opening had his head turning toward it with a wince at the noise. A beautiful woman walked in and for a moment, a brief one, Derek—because he was positive that was his name now—forgot all about Aaron. He wanted to get to know this woman a little better. His groin stirred and even with the ache in his skull, he was glad to know that at least one part of his body was still working. He may not know who he was but at least he knew one thing for sure. He liked women.
He liked this woman.
So what was with the feelings of possession towards this Aaron person? Derek shook his head mentally. He would figure it all out later. Much later.
"Oh. I see you're awake. Good. I was afraid the little bump on your head had done a lot more damage than I'd originally intended," the woman said with a grin.
"Nope. I'm fine." Derek cleared his throat. "I—uh—where am I, exactly? And is my name Derek? I just want to make sure."
"Oh no!" The woman's eyes widened and she covered her mouth. Her dusky pink skin colored slightly. "Don't tell me you lost your memory too?" She clicked her tongue. "Tsk, tsk, tsk. I tell you what. Good help is just so hard to find isn't it… Calvin?"
Derek—Calvin hesitated… repeating the name over and over again in his mind. It didn't feel right, but if this woman was saying that was his name, then she would know better than him, right? "Um… yes. You're so right." He shook his head. "What am I doing here… um… I don't know your name."
"It's Lisa. You were being held hostage, my darling and I sent some of daddy's bodyguards to go and pay the madman that was keeping you. They were supposed to turn over the money and to grab you. But the fiend took the money and shot you in the stomach instead. You tried to fight him—you're so brave," Lisa smiled at him. "But you fell and hit your head from the blood loss. Daddy had to send for a doctor to come and tend to you here."
"How long ago did this happen?" Calvin asked, rubbing at his stomach, feeling the injury screaming at him now in protest.
"Oh. It was just a little over a week ago." Lisa waved her hand nonchalantly. "I always knew you would survive. That's what I told everyone. You're strong enough to come back from anything. That's why I fell in love with you."
A sick feel churned in Calvin's stomach at Lisa's words. It was as if he'd heard her say them before, but they hadn't filled him with happiness then either. They had filled him with dread.
Derek and I already have two children, so I guess you lost there too.
Calvin shook his head and lifted his hand to his pounding skull. Whose voice was that? A hazy shadow of a man, with dark hair had momentarily filled his vision. Who was he? Before Calvin could get a lock on him, the image was gone. Calvin swallowed and focused back on Lisa.
"W-who are you to me, exactly, Lisa?" he asked.
Lisa grinned walking towards him slowly, the long, pink dress she wore swirling around her legs. Her auburn hair flowing around her shoulders and her hands outstretched towards him as if to pull Calvin into a hug. He wasn't exactly sure how he felt about that. Wasn't exactly certain that was something that he wanted. Though he wasn't sure why that was. Some part of him was aware that he liked hugging women. Or at least he wasn't opposed to it. Another image rose to his mind of blonde hair, glasses and a colorful outfit.
Baby Girl.
He didn't mind hugging Baby Girl. Whoever she was. And yet, he didn't want Lisa's hands on him. Hadn't he been thinking, only moments earlier, about how attractive she was?
"Why Der-Calvin… I'm your wife."
Calvin's mouth dropped open in surprise and he grunted as Lisa planted a kiss on his lips. It took him long moments before he realized that Lisa had almost called him Derek.
Sorry it's been like YEARS since I last updated this story! I'm getting back to it. PROMISE! I've been writing and publishing books (Yep! I'm a published author now: Vicktor Alexander) and starting up a publishing company (Rooster & Pig Publishing, Inc.) so I just ummm…. Sorta forgot. BUT I'm back now and I hope better than ever. I'm going to make sure I finish out Derek and Aaron's story. I've got to bring my boys their HEA.
