Cats and Dogs
"Inspector Cabanela, are you sure it was a good idea to bring Missile along?" Kamila's mother asked before taking a dainty bite of chicken.
"What do you meeean, baby?" The man in white replied as he scarfed down an impossibly large fork of spaghetti. The inspector seemed to be the only person in the entire country who didn't like chicken. Even more impressive, though, was his ability to messily eat his pasta without a single drop of red sauce staining his pristine white coat. "Like I said, birthdays are for friends and loved ones. How do you think poor little Missile would feel if we left him behind?"
The pomeranian barked in agreement.
"And like I already said…" Lynne began between her equally large bites of chicken. "It's not my…. Oh, never mind."
"I'm just worried about Sissel." The other woman continued, gesturing up to the black kitten sitting on top of the stack of gifts. The cat's tail twitched at the mention. "It's pretty common knowledge that dogs and cats don't get along."
Jowd chuckled as he took a bite of chicken. "You worry too much, dear."
"Aw, but Mom, Sissel is such a good kitty!" Kamila added, getting up to pat the bandana-wearing feline. "He wouldn't start trouble with cute little Missile over there." To prove her point, she gently grabbed Sissel and set him down in front of the pomeranian. Strangely, the cat didn't really seem to mind the invasion of his space.
The feline and the canine stared each other down for a moment before Missile let out a happy bark and barreled across the room. Everyone stopped what they were doing and stared in horror as the little dog tackled the even smaller cat. Only Jowd seemed to remain calm, watching the two with a large grin.
Missile, who now had Sissel pinned, panted happily as he wagged his tail.
"See, this is what I was afraid of." Jowd's wife said, looking annoyed, but with a small touch of amusement. "Someone should get Missile off of Sissel before he decides to strike back."
"I'm so sorry!" Lynne said, jumping to her feet and heading towards the animals. "Missile, how could you—"
"Wait, everyone!" Kamila said, holding up her arms. "Listen!" Instead of lashing out as one might expect from a cat that just got pinned by a dog, Sissel was purring. After giving him a large lick, the small dog climbed off of Sissel and sat down. Sissel looked a little annoyed at the face full of dog tongue he just received, but he just shrugged it off. Instead, he got back to his feet and rubbed up against Missile, purring all the while.
Cabanela let out a hearty laugh. "Well would you look at that! They look like two old friends greeting each other for the first time in a long while!"
Jowd chuckled as well. "Yes, I don't think I could have said it any better, my friend."
And so for the rest of the night, Sissel and Missle didn't leave each others' sides.
Man, Ghost Trick was so great! I'm not really a drabble kind of guy, but this idea wouldn't leave me alone ever since I finished the game. I doubt I got everyone's personalities quite right, but I did enjoy writing it. Reviews would be appreciated, assuming other people have actually finished the game at this point. =P
