Reconnecting
Leaning back in his chair, Yomiel found himself unable to quite look the purple haired woman in the eyes. Afterall, he had been responsible for her death once.
"I've never seen Sissel take so well to a stranger before," she commented cheerfully on the cat curled up in his lap. Little did she know the two could hardly be considered strangers.
An oven ding sounded in the distance. "Oh, that's my roast. I'll be just a minute." As she walked away, she called over her shoulder, "Make yourself at home!"
He continued petting Sissel, smiling as she leaned into his touch with a purr. "Nice to see you too, old friend." He gave her a scratch behind the ears. "I have a little surprise for you, actually." He reached into a basket he had brought along and pulled out something. A sweet potato.
He chuckled as Sissel's eyes lit up. "As I recall, you mentioned never having one of these before." He handed her the treat, which she quickly began to scarf down.
Alma came back just as Sissel was polishing the potato off, and shot him a curious glance. "How did you know sweet potatoes are her favorite food?"
