James sighed as he woke up next to his wife. It was before sunrise. He didn't know why he had woken up so early, but he was awake. He got up and peered through the curtains just in time to see the sun rise start. He grinned as he drew the curtains and walked back to the bed. He had an idea.

James sat beside Lily on the bed, shook her shoulder, and smiled tenderly as she turned toward him with a sleepy smile on her face. "Morning, Love," James watched her longingly for a moment, and then looked toward the window. "The sun came to see you…"

Lily looked toward the window and saw the sun rising. She rolled her eyes, smiling all the while and said, "Are you sure it came to see me?"

"Who else would it come to see?" James asked now staring lovingly at his wife. "There's only one woman in this house more radiant than the sun, and I believe that's you."

Lily laughed, a truly beautiful sound in the ears of James Potter, and said, "I think you're a bit biased, Darling…"

James placed a hand on Lily's cheek and stroked it with his thumb. He was just staring at her, relishing in the beauty that the rising sun's rays threw upon her. Before this, he had thought that nothing could make her more beautiful, and Merlin was he wrong. "Oh, I don't know about biased," he sighed, "but I know that you are the most beautiful woman I have ever had the pleasure of laying my eyes on." He smiled lovingly at her once more, just basking in her beauty and presence. He bent over her and placed a kiss to her forehead, then her cheeks, then her eyelids, and finally her lips. She looked at him curiously, but he just smiled and brought a hand up to her face. He traced the side of her face, her lips, and kissed her again. Then he brought his hand up again to trace the bridge of her nose.

"What are you doing?" Lily asked laughing at him. He was always so loving in the mornings. You would think she was used to it by now… apparently not.

James continued to stare at her for a long while before saying, "Just…" He broke off and let loose a chuckle that was more out of wonderment than anything else. "I'm just… wondering how I could've… ended up with such a beautiful woman like you… I mean… just…" he broke off again, this time with a more pronounced twinkle of love and wonderment in his eyes. "I love you."

Lily smiled at him, "I love you too." She may not always understand him, but she would always love him.
