"Some one looks cold." Luna looked behind her and saw the tall redhead standing behind her.

"Hullo, Fred. How did you know I was out here?" Luna stood up and faced him.

"I was watching you."

"So you were creeping on me?" Fred's face turned almost as red as his hair.

"No, no. I wasn't. I just noticed you left the castle and were sitting down by the lake." Fred shifted his weight nervously. He hadn't meant to watch her, he just happened to notice that she was leaving the castle. Especially since it was past curfew. "You shouldn't be out this late."

"I know, but I couldn't sleep. No one remembered it's New Year's Eve. Everyone in Ravenclaw is asleep." Luna sat back down looking out at the lake. Fred sat down next to her.

"I'm pretty sure all of Gryffindor is asleep too. I was too."

"Then how did you see me leave?"

"Lee snores." Luna giggled and then shivered. Fred took of his jacket and wrapped it around her. He put an arm around her and pulled Luna close. "I knew someone was cold."

"You don't have to-"

"I've got another jumper. See?" Fred pointed to the blue jumper with a gold F on it. "Christmas present. Mum always makes them."

"So why are you here over Christmas?"

"Mum and Dad are off visiting Bill in Egypt. What about you? You're usually back home with your Dad." Luna snuggled closer to Fred.

"He's off doing research for the Quibbler. He sent me a letter telling me to stay because it was quite dangerous." Luna sounded upset. She always went places with her father; it was odd that he had told her to stay. "We always spend New Year's together. Now I'm spending it alone."

"Unless I leave, you're not." Luna smiled. They barely knew each other but he was still being so nice to her. "Do you have a watch?"

"Yes, I made sure to grab one."

"How much longer do we have?" Luna looked down at her watch; it was had to tell because it was so dark out.

"Err…"

"Lumos." The wand lit up and Luna could read her watch.

"One minute."

"Wow, time flies doesn't it?" Luna nodded. The two stared at Luna's watch waiting for the New Year to come.

"5…"

"4…"

"3…"

"2…"

"1…" The watch clicked to midnight and Fred kissed Luna. When he pulled away Luna was turning red. "That's a tradition isn't it? To kiss someone at midnight?" Luna nodded and looked away. Fred stood up and then held out his hand for Luna. "Come on, let's get inside before we get caught or you get frostbite."

"I wasn't out here that long." Luna took Fred's hand and he helped her up.

"If we stay one more minute you probably will get frostbite." Fred started of for the castle still holding her hand. His hand was so warm compared to hers. It felt nice. They got inside the castle and Luna slipped Fred's jacket off of her shoulders.

"We should probably split up so we both don't get caught." Luna handed Fred his jacket.

"Probably a smart idea." Fred took his jacket and kissed Luna on the forehead. "I'll see you around Lovegood." He smiled at her and then took of down the hallway. Luna stood in her place until he turned the corner. She then started to walk back to the Ravenclaw tower. Her hand kind of tingled but she would mind if it was frostbite, she had had an amazing night. When she got in the common room, Luna smiled.

"I have a feeling it's going to be quite a good year."
