so impossible
When he looks at you, his whole face smiles and he goes red as he sort of knocks his hand against yours, and your heart stutters as you entwine your fingers for him, and you see the pleasured surprise he wears and you wonder -
Who is this boy who makes your skin tingle at every touch? Who is this boy you just can't seem to get off your mind, who you notice all the little things about (the way his hair sticks up in the back, the glances he steals when he thinks you aren't looking, the caution he takes around you)? Whose scent sends your head spinning and summons those familiar butterflies, makes you the same tongue-tied, blushing girl he always unintentionally used to? Who is this cute, funny, quiet, sweet, stumbling-all-over-himself boy you've fallen for?
Sometimes, you feel like you know him better than you know yourself. Because you can tell that although he may be stupidly noble and brave in the face of danger, when it comes to kissing you, he doesn't realize that it's okay for him to lean over and peck you on the lips for no reason; and it takes you a few days to give him the knowledge that he doesn't have to pluck up his courage to kiss you (and maybe you do a little less talking than showing).
Other times, you catch him staring at you while you're writing an essay, and he's got this look on his face that kind of reminds you of your mum and dad, like he thinks of himself as the luckiest bloke in the world - and whenever you catch him, you look up at him and smile and he blushes and it's so absolutely Harry that you have to lean over and kiss him, just a little, and he smiles against your mouth.
But when the two of you tumble back into the common room at all hours, laughing and flushed and breathless with exhilaration at having escaped Filch yet again; when he kisses you goodnight, you find yourself thinking - do I love him? Do I love him? Because although you've never felt this with Michael or Dean, in the end you're still fifteen and young and not exactly naive, so you'll just keep walking down this blind path and maybe one day, you'll know.
You'll know who this boy is.
A/N: A HarryGinny drabble for GR. Merry Christmas.
I have a fun Minerva and Dumbledore Christmas one-shot up if anyone wants to read it - called Candy Cane Caution. Check it out. ;D
Any thoughts you have on this would be much appreciated. :)
Thanks for reading!
