Prologue to Pool Boy. It has been edited and changed! (My apologies for the atrocious version before).
Disclaimer: Naruto and the other characters are not mine, only the plot it.
Enjoy~
He can't believe he is doing this. What is he doing exactly that he is dreading? Simple, getting a job as the pool boy for the Haruno`s. He needs a summer job, and admittedly this is the kind of place to work; $20 an hour, 6 hour shift, it's what anyone wants. Except, he doesn't know much about the Haruno`s, no one really does. All anyone knows it is that Mr. Haruno is a very, respected, powerful, and rich laywer. While his wife is a very successful jelwery and fashion designer, and for kids, no one is really sure they have any. At least the people Sasuke hands out with are unsure.
Therefore, for the awesome job, here he is driving to the front gate that guards a million dollar mansion. The mansion is hidden behind plants, but since he has to where he give a password at the gate to get in, he knows the mansion is going to be worth more than the whole neighborhood he lives in. Actually, his neighborhood probably isn't even worth the front gate.
When he finally gets up to the house he sees someone standing on the porch; someone whose picture could be next to the word 'rich' in the dictionary and people will understand what the word means. The man, Mr. Haruno, is dressed to impress and gives off an aura that he has power and money. Except contrary to what it may seem, the man is actually incredibly nice and charitable. Sasuke had met the man at a café by change and had his interview there that same day, Mr. Haruno was nothing but nice and friendly. The old man even cracked a few jokes then.
Sasuke gets stops his bike and gets off as Mr. Haruno begins to make his way down the stairs to greet him. Sasuke notices the man is looking behind and hears a car engine rumbling in the near vicinity; he imagines the car is pulling into the driveway.
"Mr. Uchiha, it's nice to see you again. I'd like to stay a chat a bit, but I'm afraid I have to be somewhere. So, when you go inside a maid will be waiting and she will lead you to somewhere you may change. Then, she will show you the house really quick and then the pool. When it is lunch time you are welcomed to anyhting in the kitchen, as long as it is to your age and that no one says you can`t have it. By the time I get home you should be gone the pool cleaner than it was. With that, I bid you adieu ." Mr. Haruno vocalizes to Sasuke before the car Sasuke had heard coming up the driveway pulls up and Mr. Haruno pops into to it. He gives Sasuke a wave before he shuts the door.
Sasuke turns back to the towering mansion in front of him before he gives a sigh and climbs up the steps while thinking about the conversation he had just had with Mr. Haruno. First off, why was he referred to as 'mister?' Sasuke knows the guy is well bred and all, but how can he call a young adult a mister? Sasuke's never been called mister before! Sasuke starts to wonder if he crossed some sort of economical line he shouldn't have as he reaches the front doors. He puts a hand out to open the right one, but both the doors open themselves before his hand is on the handle.
Sasuke instantly sees two butlers holding the door open, and gives them each an unsettled grin before heading into the house. Sasuke is over taken by the interior of the mansion the moment he steps inside; everything is shiny and looks worth a fortune. He sees people moving to and fro as well, all of them completely oblivious to him and the splendor surrounding them.
"You're being paid to clean the pool, not ogle the house." A shrill voice interrupts Sasuke's awed stupor, and he is shocked to suddenly see a regal and aged woman standing before him.
"You're the maid I'm suppose to meet?" Sasuke inquires as he takes in her uniform.
"I'm the head maid of this household, you may call me Ms. Camilla. Now, follow me." Camilla says as she turns and leads Sasuke deeper into the house, a house he thinks he should not be allowed into since it's completely on the opposite end of the spectrum of his economical standing.
"Change in there and be quick." Camilla says after leading Sasuke to a bathroom on the workers' side of the house. Sasuke picks up on her harshness instantly, and he's silently glad he's not a maid working under her.
Sasuke hops into the bathroom and changes quickly since he can see and hear Ms. Camilla's foot tapping in impatience. His uniform was hung for him in the change room, so he finds it easier to throw on, and he opens the door just as he sees Camilla opening her mouth to yell at him. She takes his change in appearance in and buttons up his collar before she nods; Sasuke grunts though and glares at her back after she turns and starts walking again.
"What about my clothes?" Sasuke asks as the woman. She pauses and looks back at him over her shoulder before she turns her head towards a maid trying to scurry by unnoticed.
"You, take this clothes and put them in a locker. Bring me the key afterwards." The maid had looked panicked when she was called on at first, but her body language becomes relaxed after hearing the request and she gives a simple nod in response.
Sasuke moves to the girl and gives her his clothes before she scurries off, not wanting to be reprimanded for taking so long on a simple task.
"Now then, off to the pool. I'll give you a tour on the way." Camilla vocalizes to Sasuke before she resumes her hastened steps, Sasuke has to put some effort into catching up the woman. She may be old, but she's certainly not slow Sasuke notes.
"As you can see, this area is for the workers of the house. It's small and tucked in the corner; it only consists of that changing room, a bathroom, and a small living room/lounge area. Oh, and my office as well as the head chef's office." Camilla explains as she moves through an arch way, Sasuke, right beside her.
"This is the rest of the house. This is the main hallway and as you see, it opens up into the living room. The kitchen is through that archway, and you can get to the pool from there as well." Camilla describes as she and Sasuke make their way towards the glass doors at the back of the open living room. Sasuke can see some stairs and his lingered gaze catches the attention of his tour guide.
"Those are forbidden to you. All the bedrooms are upstairs, as well as Mr. Haruno's office. I suggest if you want to keep your job, you don't even linger around them." Sasuke nods and turns his head away, but he is still slightly curious as to what is at the end of those steps.
Camilla and Sauske reach the glass-french-doors, and Camilla opens one before stepping out onto the wooden deck. Sasuke steps out just behind her and is once again awe struck by what he sees. Just as the front of the house is raised, so is the back. So the deck Sasuke is standing on now leads down to grass and a pool surrounded by gorgeous tiles. Sasuke's gaze drifts farther than the pool and his eyes glaze over as he takes in the well manicured lawns and the forest beyond.
"You sure have a staring problem." Camilla states critically as she moves across the deck to descend down the stairs before she stands next to the poo. Sasuke grunts slightly after her comment; he's only staring because he's never been in such a luxurious place before.
Sasuke hadn't paid much attention to the pool when he took in his initial gaze of the backyard, but now he focuses his attention on it and takes it in. It's a big pool, not olympic size, but fairly big compared to a normal in-ground pool. It also has a hot tub at the far end, as well as a simple waterslide on the opposite side Sasuke is standing. Sasuke admits it's a nice pool, but he been expecting more. He thought they would have huge waterslides, two olympic size pools, and three hot tubs or something. However, it's not necessarily a bad thing there's less than he expected, he has less overall water to clean.
"The pool equipment is in that little shed over there, lunch is at noon and last for half an hour unless granted an extension for a reason. Make sure you're on time tomorrow." Camilla says before she turns, marches up the deck steps, and enters the mansion once again.
"Well then." Sasuke mutters after Ms. Camilla is out of sight and ear shot. He's really glad she's not his direct boss after all that, because she would certainly be someone he could not deal with six or eight hours day.
"Best get started." Sasuke whispers to himself before he makes his way over to the shed.
The morning hadn't been hot, and Sasuke had found it easy to start cleaning the pool and learning the techniques of how too. However, the afternoon is completely different in temperature from the morning, and Sasuke is finding it hard to clean the pool. As he said it is smaller than he thought it would be, but even at it's size, it is a hell of a lot to clean. A pain too.
Sasuke thinks part of the problem is that just as it was getting hot in the morning, he went in for lunch. Which meant nice and cool AC, so when he came back out to the pool, he's body had not slowly adjusted to the heat as it would have if he had not gone inside for lunch. Sasuke sighs as he swings his little pool cleaning rod to try and get a leaf that's floating in the water. The nice, cool water Sasuke thinks as he stares into it. He can see his reflection on the surface and is about ready to dive in, before he thinks about Camilla. He shivers at the thought and finds hid body temperature lower. She's not his direct boss, but he imagines she could report him and make him a former employee.
Sasuke is not going to give up this gig though, despite the heat he is facing. The pay and hours are good, and if he loses this job, he'll probably end up working in a fast food place like his best friend. His best friend who is currently working eight hours a day and only earning eight buck an hour. No thank you, Sasuke thinks as he finally gets the leaf and moves the rod to dump its contents onto the grass.
Sasuke starts to lose himself in his work, and his thoughts drift off in response. He doesn't even hear the glass doors open or close, nor does he hear the sound of someone walking across the deck and then down the stairs. No, he only realizes someone else is outside when he sees the shadow of someone appear across the pool. His first thought is that the person is Camilla, but as he moves his eyes up to look, he finds someone one third of her.
Someone who is a third of her age and wearing a white bikini, sunglasses, and sporting pink hair. Sasuke watches as the girl seems to realize she's not alone as well, but compared to Sasuke's quizzical stare, she just lifts an eye brown before leaning back on her lounge chair. Sasuke looks away quickly after that, he is not one to stare. People, especially girls, are the ones who start at him.
Sasuke does take another peek at her before he returns to his work, and he catches her taking her sunglasses off. Which leads to him catching a brief glance of green eyes, green eyes which match the man who had greeted him on the porch earlier. Sasuke smirks to himself as he finally gets back to work; he now knows the answer to one of the questions regarding the Haruno family.
They do have a daughter.
