One of the hard things of life
Bye: LeaMarie

Jessie and James were nearing Jessie's old hometown. Earlier that week Jessie had gotten a message about her grandfather. He was very sick. When she had gotten the message she'd nearly freaked out. The only thing that kept her from breaking down in tears was the fact that Meowth was there. She didn't really mind crying in front of James. After all he was her best friend. "Hey Jessie, can we slow down?" Meowth asked.
"I guess." Jessie started walking around while Meowth sat down to rest. James walked up next to her.
"Are you ok?" James asked concerned.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Jessie said voice cracking.
"No you're not. I know you to well." James told her. Jessie nodded her head. James knew her to well. James gave her a friendly hug.

After an fifteen minutes of resting they took off to Jessie home town. Then a half an hour later they reached the nursing home where Jessie's grandfather was. Jessie sighed. "Do you want me to come in with you?" James asked her.
"Sure, if you want." She told him, grateful that he'd asked. Jessie and James walked in to the home. When they reached Jessie's grandfather's room, Jessie walked in and got about half way to his bed before she started to cry. James walked up to her and wrapped her into a hug.

They stayed for about three minutes before Jessie needed to get out of there. They went down to the lobby to get something to drink. "I've never seen him like that." She told him. "He looked so...so...awful." Jessie said eyes starting to fill with tears.
"It'll be alright." James told her. A few minutes later they went back to the room and stayed for about four minutes that time. They went to a hotel to stay the night.

Jessie didn't go back the next day. She just couldn't bring herself to do it. She didn't want to see him like that. She didn't want one of her last memories to be of him lying in bed. She wanted to remember him walking around, laughing, telling jokes, and talking. Not laying sick in a bed.

Three days later she got a phone call that her grandfather had died. She slipped quietly out of the hotel room, not wanting to expose James to her family. She went to meet them at a flower shop so they could discuss flowers for the funeral. Jessie talked, told jokes, and thew her two cents worth in to the conversations. Her family took her out to dinner. Jessie then went to get her hair cut. When she got back home she talked to James. Meowth had left to go do something. "He died." She told him bluntly.
"Are you ok?" James asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Jessie said, trying to keep her voice from cracking.
"No, your not. I know you to well."
"Your right." Jessie said starting to break down a little.
"I'll be fine." She said her voice cracking.
"I don't know why I ask that any more." James commented.
"I'll be fine." Jessie repeated, tears starting to rolling down her face.
"Oh, Jessie." James said putting his arm around her. Jessie stood up and grabbed a tissue, dabbing at her eyes.
"There goes my make up." Jessie told him. James started to tell some jokes. Jessie and him started to talk about different things. Jessie felt a little better, but still felt like she was going to cry at any moment. She'd gotten good at keeping her emotions hidden. Well from any one but James.

A few days later at the funeral, Jessie tried to keep her emotions hidden, but some tears started to run down her face. It was so hard to think that some one she loved was gone for ever.

This story is dedicated too my late grandpa. A loss that I've recently felt. And I'd also like to thank my best friends Tiki and Lucky, for being there for me when I needed to talk.

Disclaimer: I don't own Pokémon.
