IT'S REALLY NOT THAT BAD

E/O Challenge Words: sprained and scary. Also, challenge to write pre-series Sam saving the day or why Sam hates Halloween.

200 hundred words exactly.

A/N: I was really psyched to try my hand at a Halloween story this year. Unfortunately RL got in the way and made this posting late. Also, Happy Belated Birthday to Madd Aless. I hope it was good.

"Come on boys, let's pack it in." Faint mumbling came from the rear and John scowled slightly. "Sam?"

A chocolate mop of hair popped up with defiant eyes hid beneath.

"Stop moping and help your brother. And clean that pigsty Dean calls a car."

Frowning in return, Sam wanted to slam the trunk but closed it gently for Dean's sake.

GOD!

Hurrying forward to help his brother, Sam sighed tiredly. As it went, a sprained knee wasn't too bad. "Another successful Halloween, huh, Dean?"

"Hey, man, don't start. You know Halloween is a bad time," Dean defended.

Sam just rolled his eyes, "Yeah, I know." Sliding his arm around his brother they headed inside.

"Man… when that deer jumped out of the bushes? You were so scared."

A scoff. "Yeah, well, I seem to remember you screaming and then falling down that hill right after."

"Well if you hadn't-" Dean's leg buckled and Sam steadied him silently.

Giving Dean a moment, Sam suddenly realized they were at the door.

Reluctant to go in they just stood there, dreading the next two days, because as bad as Halloween was, November 2nd would be worse.

With a bolstering breath, they headed inside.

A/N: Now don't start thinking this is a story about abuse. I'm just saying that the days leading up to the anniversary of Mary's death were probably pretty hard on the Winchesters, and probably included there fair share of liquor and hunts. Let me know what you think by sending me a review.
