Gabe and Ian stood on the balcony with their hands on the rail, looking down below at the scene. People were running all over the place, their faces covered in tears and fear. Gabe's heart was pounding like a native drum, while Ian held his breath as if his life depended on it.

The noise came back again, louder and stronger this time. Gabe squint his eyes shut tight and tried to block out the noise with his palms, but it didn't help. He fell helplessly to the floor. The pain still seeped into his body, murdering every part of him. He could faintly hear Ian speaking to him, but he sounded as if he were a million miles away.

"Gabe, no! Listen, it's going to be okay. It'll stop. Aw shit, come on!" But it was no use. Gabe's mind was in a faraway place; his body felt like it was being torn in a thousand different ways. Ian knew that the sound affected Gabe more than anybody else. He could barely breathe while watching his friend in agony. He tried desperately to help Gabe out of it, but it was useless. Gabe screamed in pain, tears now streaming down his face. He pleaded for Ian to help him, but Ian couldn't. He had no power here, the sound was overwhelming. All Ian could do was watch in terror as his friend fell apart before his eyes.
