Summary: Ashley Hauptman is coming to Kennewick, Washington to visit the pack, but gets more than she bargained for. Throw in vampires and fae and some will start to wonder if she is really Mercy's biological daughter.
Disclaimer: In some ways I own Ashley but with her last name it really doesn't make her mine…confusing right?
Prologue: Coming Home
Ashley stared at the road she had walked down so many times coming home from practice. She remembered so many times she walked the road with her friends talking about basketball and boys. Now twenty-three she stared at the house in apprehension wondering if it was a good idea to come home after all, but remembering her little sister's scared voice over the phone made her choice as she pulled her '70 Ford truck to the front of her home.
Ashley barely had time to close her door when a flash of neon pink hair flew at her and wrapped around her waist. Smiling down at her eccentric sister she wrapped Jesse into a warm embrace as she looked up and saw her father and Mercy standing at the door. It was strange, to see Mercy and her father stand side by side as a couple. In some ways, Ashley was going to miss the times when Mercy managed to get her father to cuss, something that her mother couldn't do.
Keeping her arm around Jesse's shoulders both girls walked up the stairs. Ashley paused staring into the same dark brown eyes that she saw in the mirror everyday in her life, glancing down after seeing the flicker of gold beginning to appear she turned to Mercy who was smiling warmly at Ashley.
Ashley untangled herself from Jesse and hugged the older woman tightly. Surprised, Mercy returned the hug with the same emotion, "welcome home kid," Mercy said, gently tugging Ashley's dark brown hair.
"Thanks," Ashley said, smiling before turning to look at her father again this time not breaking eye contact with his wolf.
"Your home," Adam said, staring at his oldest daughter somewhat surprised.
"Yes dad, I'm home," Ashley said, Adam held opened his arms and Ashley fell into them welcoming the warmth and protection that her father's wolf offered her.
"Welcome home Ash, welcome home."
"It's good to be home."
