~ Goodbye~
Nagihiko stuffed the last of his things in his suitcase. It pained him that he had to leave again, but he knew it had to be done. This was important. This was his dream.
By this time, almost all his friends had already had their goodbyes; the only one left was Rima. With his feelings, he couldn't just leave her. And he knew he had to say goodbye to her in a special way.
"Kukai, what do you think I should do?" Nagihiko asked. Kukai set down his cup and thought for a second.
"You like her, right?" Nagihiko nodded.
"Yes, I do. I think it might be a little bit more than that, even. And since I'm leaving, the goodbye has to be something special. I can't leave like this. I may be coming back, but still…" Nagihiko stared down at his feet. Kukai set his elbows on the table and appeared to be deep in thought.
"You care about her as much as I care about Utau?" Nagihiko was hesitant to answer this question. He knew how much Kukai cared about Utau. It was a whole lot.
"I-I think so," he finally answered. Kukai smiled smugly.
"Alright, so here's the plan."
Rima's phone vibrated in her pocket. When she opened it up, she found a text from Nagihiko to her surprise.
"Please come to the airport when I leave.-Nagihiko"
Rima read this and smiled to herself. She would surely go - something was telling her she had to.
Rima shifted uncomfortably and twirled a blonde lock around her finger. She knew that Nagihiko was not coming back any time soon. And though she would never admit it, she was deeply saddened by his departure. And she knew deep down that she would miss Nagihiko more than anyone else.
When it was finally time for the airplane to leave, Rima said,
"Nagihiko, I'll miss you… You stay safe, okay?" Nagihiko smiled softly. Rima tried to smile back, but it turned out being a smile tainted with sadness. "I know you are going to study dance and are following your dreams, and I know that this is important to you. So I guess this is goodbye-"
Rima stopped when Nagihiko leaned in and kissed her.
"I guess it is. But I'll see you again," he said after he broke the kiss, a wide grin on his face. He walked toward the gate giving Rima one last wave goodbye. Rima waved back, a bright smile gracing her face.
And whenever she missed Nagihiko, she remembered that one kiss goodbye.
