Mistakes

Finn misses her, she knows that. She hasn't gotten a good night's sleep since her parents kicked her out, so she's always awake when he texts her at one-thirty in the morning to say hello, demand why, ask if she's been okay since sectionals. Quinn's staying with Puck these days, so it's always with a guilty glance in his direction out the bedroom door (he insisted on giving up his room and sleeping on the couch) that she'll pull out her cell and just stare at the message for an hour and a half until she finally dozes off. She never replies, never tells anybody about it—just stares.

Until one night, when he's texted that his mom was watching 16 and Pregnant on MTV earlier and it made him worry that Puck won't help pay for the doctor's bills and does she want him to start sending her half of his paychecks from Olive Garden because baby Drizzle needs the money more than he does for his XBOX anyway. The first thing that hits her is heartbreak that he's still not over it and that he still calls their—no, her—baby "Drizzle," and she can't ignore it like always this time.

At first she thought it would only hurt him worse to give him false hope, but maybe he's not hoping to make up—maybe he just cares.

So Quinn says a little prayer and texts back. You don't owe me anything. Her finger hovers over the OK button for half a second before she tacks on, Finn, I want you to be the baby's godfather, and sends the message before she can talk herself out of it.
