Phone Call

Steve handed Danny his phone warily. "Mary wants to talk to you."

Danny nodded, took the phone and turned slightly away.

"Okay, she gets out at 330 and I told her to look for you. East side of the school, then I will meet you at Parker's at about 530? Yeah. Okay. Thanks. Oh, yeah, okay." Danny fished in his pocket for his phone, thumped it and studied it for a minute, nodded and stuck it back in his pocket, "here", and handed Steve's phone back to him.

Steve cocked an eyebrow curiously.

"Why are you talking to Mary"

"What'samatter, you got a problem with me talking to Mary?"

"Why are you talking to Mary?"

"She's picking Grace up from school."

"Why?"

"Why? What's with the why? You tracking your sister now?"

"How does Grace know Mary?"

"How does Grace know Mary? She's met Mary. She knows Mary."

"How? I didn't know Mary met Grace."

"Questions, questions, Commander Steve. What is your problem? Mary met Grace. Mary is taking Grace shopping after school. I am meeting Mary and Grace later for supper. Does this meet with Big Brother's approval?"

"You are not dating my sister!

""WHOA. Who said I was dating your sister? YOU said I was dating your sister, I did NOT say I was dating your sister. Mary is taking Grace shopping. That is all. "

"Why?"

"What the hell is it with you? My birthday is coming up. Grace wants to get me something for a surprise. Mary is taking her. You have a problem?"

"I don't like this."

What, you think I am going to turn your sister against you? It's not me, she already has a problem with you."

"No."

"You think Grace is not safe with her?"

"No, I think YOU are not safe with Mary. Or vice versa"

"Mary needs someone to talk to. You should try listening to her sometime. "

"Oh, and she talks to you?"

"She talks to me. I am a great listener."

"No, you're not, you never listen to anyone."

"Not true, Commander Steve, not true. You could use some human interaction intervention in my opinion."

"In your opinion. You think I care about your opinion?"

"Yeah, well, you're sure interested in what I am doing for the rest of my life."

"I am not interested in your opinion. And don't call me Commander Steve. And stay away from my sister."

Danny smiled. "Yes SIR."
