"But I love you and you love me, Simon, isn't that what marriage is all about?"

I never thought there would be day where I would be the one explaining anything to River, this thing was something I would rather have explained in private (Jayne and his moon eyes would be envious), but this was something I had hard time explaining to myself.

(as she grins up at me looking like a grown woman but still a child inside)

"Marriage is something we could never do, River, it's not right. Do you understand that?"

Even before every one of her thoughts came spilling out, however brilliant or so very wrong they were, this very one was one she asked our parents (just like the wicked grin she was) just watch their eyes go wide in horror.

Her lips find mine, and hold on longer than they ever should (but I do not pull away), knowing that she is the only one who can take away a frown from me in a second.

"I can kiss you, Simon, hold you, and do nothing more, wouldn't that be enough? I only want to spend the rest of my life with you, is that so wrong?"

(in more ways than she'll know about)
