Hello. If you've read my stuff before, I'm so sorry I haven't been updating. I cannot promise that I will update anytime soon, but I do promise to try to finish my other stories. I know how frustrating it is when a story I like is abandoned, so I'll try. In the meantime, please forgive me?

Anyway, this is my first-ever real mini-fic! (It was almost a drabble, but I got carried away.) Please let me know what you think!

"That was fun," Yugi beamed as he set down his controller.

"Yeah, especially for you, Yug'," Joey laughed and continued melodramatically, "You beat everyone, even Atem!"

"Well, he was only a few points behind me," Yugi said, shooting his other an amused glance.

Atem, propping an elbow on the couch arm and resting his chin in his hand, looked at the boy beside him with quiet pride, "Don't be so modest, aibou. Take credit for your skill."

Yugi took Atem's free hand and playfully nudged their shoulders together, "But it's true, Atem, you were only a few points behind. Am I really the one being modest here?"

Atem smirked, but didn't answer. He laced his fingers more firmly with Yugi's.

"Well," Tristan spoke up from the other end of the couch, "I guess we should call it a night. I promised my mom I'd be home before twelve." He yawned widely.

"Aw, man," Joey whined, "Why'd ya have to do that? Don't you know yawning's c-contaaaagious?" The others winced as Joey's jaw popped audibly with the force of his yawn.

Yugi smiled sleepily and rubbed at one eye with the heel of his hand, leaning his head against the back of the couch as he finished his own yawn. He looked over at Atem, who was no longer watching him but was staring at the opposite wall with an air of forced indifference.

As the silence stretched on, Joey and Tristan also focused on Atem, who was subtly clenching his jaw, shoulders set in a stubborn line. Giving a tiny smirk despite sleep-fuzzed eyes, Yugi turned his head to better see his other as Atem's dignified features began to acquire a slight flush. Atem managed to maintain his composure for another second or two before it cracked into a loud yawn that could not quite hide behind the hand that had hastily risen to cover his mouth.

"See, what'd I tell ya?" Joey said, "Even the Pharaoh can't beat it!"

The others snickered at Atem's slightly miffed expression. Joey and Tristan got up and grabbed their jackets from the floor where they'd been tossed at the beginning of the night as Yugi gave Atem another teasing jostle.

"See you later, man," Tristan called as he handed Joey a spare helmet and made his way out the door.

"Bye!" Yugi waved, smiling as, beside him, Atem tried to stifle another yawn.

***The Next Day***

"I–hic!–hate hiccups," Yugi grumbled as he filled up a glass of water at the sink.

Atem watched sympathetically as Yugi downed the water and had just opened his mouth to assure his partner that they'd be over soon when–

"Hic!"

Lowering the glass from his lips, Yugi looked over at Atem's surprised face. "Hic!" The taller boy scowled as annoyance at the second affront to his dignity in as many days set in. "Hic!"

Yugi chuckled and gave his darker half a sideways hug, rubbing a hand soothingly over his stomach. "Oops. I forgot hiccups are contagious too! But don't worry," he leaned up to give Atem a quick kiss, "I know how to cure these."

Yeah, I got this idea from a Garfield comic I read once. (I equate none of these characters with the Garfield characters; the idea just seemed too fun to pass up.) Please review!
