The Creation of Solar Eclipse and Lunar Eclipse

Up on Olympus…

"The mortals are more depended on the sun than the moon, everyone knows that!" stated Apollo, stomping his feet. "Of course not, everyone knows that mortals are more depended on the moon!" exclaimed Artemis as she trembled with angry silver light.

Apollo didn't seem to notice. "The sun provides light, energy, and heat for the mortals to use, it helps them with their crops, electrical bills, getting tanned, and a lot of other important things! What does the moon do?"

"Who cares about getting tanned? The moon is cool, bright, and inspiring. The moon helps the inhabitants of earth cool down until the next day comes, but it is bright enough to provide light without burning, plus it is an inspiration for many artists." Artemis argued back.

"How can you not care about getting tanned? That is why I am the hottest man in the world! Let's prove it then. Ride your chariot along side of mine and we shall see which is most important to the mortals!" he proclaimed, using his hands while he spoke.

"You are on!" Artemis grins assuredly.

With that said, Artemis and Apollo rode up into the sky with the moon and the sun aligned. Half of the mortals saw an orange moon and the other half saw a bright round ring in the sky. Apollo and Artemis continue arguing in the sky until they were sure that the mortals have decided.

"See, the mortals rely on the sun more!" argues Apollo, pointing to the sun. "No, of course not, they rely on the moon!" disputes Artemis, pointing to the moon.

"This argument is going nowhere! I decree that every six months, we give the mortals a taste of their own medicine, so to speak. Then they shall decide who is the most important of all!" yells Apollo, with his arms crossed. "Agreed, let them decide!" screams Artemis, riding off.

So roughly every six months, Artemis and Apollo give the mortals a chance to think about the moon, the sun, and the value of each.

In the meanwhile...he raises his hands in a stop everything gesture.

"I feel a haiku coming on."He clears his throat and holds up a hand dramatically...

"The Sun is awesome.

Giving life, unlike the moon.

Everyone loves me."

"Come on Apollo! Get over the haikus already! I not the goddess of poetry, but I can make a better haiku then that!" she states

"Oh ya, let me see you try" he replies cockily.

"Moon shines above Earth

Stars in the dazzling sky

All silvery light"

"That's a good try little sis, but this is even better..."

"My sis, Artemis

Shoots arrows with Huntresses

Best haiku ever"

"DON'T CALL ME LITTLE SIS! We have been over this many times Apollo..."

"Hey, I was born first!" he interrupts.

"We're twins! How many millennia do we have to argue about this, huh?"

Here they start again...
