A/N: Yay another one, even though this ones rather gloomy compared to the last one :/
Hope you enjoy it anyways...
Tony could feel her tears as they fell against the side of his neck, and the way her hands fisted against his chest and the slight sting of where she'd repeatedly struck him as he'd stepped away from his machines once his armour had been shed.
"I hate you!" Pepper whispered again, her voice quiet and her breath soft against his neck.
He held her tighter; he knew how much he hurt her when he left, his body protected and safe behind his amour, his face hidden behind a mask devoid of any emotion, it had probably hurt her more this time, leaving her asleep in bed, not even waking her to say goodbye.
It was almost possible for him to hate it as much as her, but every time he promised himself that he would come back to her, because she was the only thing in his life worth living for and he wasn't about to let it go now.
It would've been the perfect time for him to tell her how much she meant to him, that he loved her. The way she folded herself into his embrace, almost trying to sink herself under his skin so that they'd never be separated again, it made his heart flutter, and his chest ach, even though it could've been from a couple of broken ribs, he preferred to think otherwise.
However, it wasn't words of love that broken the deafening silence that had enveloped around them, save for a gentle sob that would every now and again part from her lips.
"Pfffft!" it was instead the passing of gas, the stitch in his stomach slowly fading away with each passing moment, his face went red.
"You're a pig!" Pepper exclaimed softly, her voice dry from crying, she turned her head on his shoulder to face the wall behind him, trying not to lose herself too deeply by trying to find he smell of him underneath that of blood and burnt metal.
"But you love me anyway, right?" he asked hopeful, his lips placing a few soft kissed against her shoulder as he waited for her to speak.
"Yes, but for a minute I just need to hate you." She mumbled turning her head back into the nape of his neck as if to hide her face from the world.
"Okay, I can live with that." Tony said tenderly as he pulled her closer to him.
He understood what she meant because sometimes hating someone, even for a minute, made the heartache a little easier to manage, he was just lucky she wouldn't hate him for a lifetime.
A/N: Hope you liked it and thank you for reading...and please don't forget to review ^_^
